STAMPB.EXE is a self-extracting file containing the compressed files required
to use StampBase for Windows.

                             DETAILED DESCRIPTION

StampBase for Windows is stamp collection inventory system for Microsoft
WindowsTM 3.0 or higher.  StampBase takes advantage of the Windows' Graphical
User Interface (GUI) and its memory management capabilities.  StampBase is a
Windows application.  The program will not work outside the Windows
environment.

Your stamp collection data can be stored in one or more files.  StampBase
provides intuitive data entry and edit features.  StampBase uses the stamp
catalog numbering system used by most popular catalogs and publications.  The
program sorts records by country and catalog number.  StampBase tracks each
stamp's category (type), issue year, description, grade, purchase date, cost
and market value.  Personal comments about a stamp can also be stored with
each record.

The StampBase author is a 25 year veteran of stamp collecting.  StampBase is a
stamp inventory system for the person who enjoys stamp collecting as a hobby
and using a computer.  StampBase stores detailed and concise information about
a stamp collection in an easily understood format.  Information about a stamp
is quickly accessible on screen or in printed form.

StampBase requires an 80286 or better PC with 1 MB RAM and a hard drive.  The
program supports a mouse and keyboard.

This is NOT free software.  This is NOT public domain software.  StampBase for
Windows is a shareware software product.  You are expected to pay a small
registration fee to the author if you find it useful.  A registration form is
included in the program.  The author will send you the latest version of the
program and a professionally printed User's Guide upon receiving the
registration fee.  Registered users will be notified when the program is
updated.

                       INSTALLATION AND UNPACKING PROGRAM

The StampBase for Windows package is stored in compressed files produced by
the software program LHA written by Haruyasu Yoshizaki.  Copying STAMPB.EXE to
a hard drive is recommended before unpacking.  Window's File Manager can be
used to install the program.  Use the following procedure after starting File
Manager:

      1. Select Create Directory from the File menu.  Enter the directory name
         and location (if different then current drive).

      2. Select source disk drive (A or B) containing STAMPB.EXE.  Select Copy
         from the File menu.  Enter new directory name created in #1.

      3. Select drive containing STAMPB.EXE.  Select new directory created in
         #1.  Select STAMPB.EXE and press Enter.

StampBase will now be unpacked in the new directory.  Refer to the User's
Guide (SBGUIDE.DOC) for instructions on adding StampBase to the Windows
application group.
