This document contains tips for configuring Winvelope to operate with the following printers: HP Laserjet II/III (and most centerfeed compatibles) HP Laserjet IIP/IIIP (and most sidefeed compatibles) HP Laserjet 4 HP Deskjet 500/500c HP Deskjet 550c Various Dot Matrix Printers High Capacity Envelope Feeders for various lasers You will find additional information and margin settings in the documentation file, WV43DOC.WRI. HP LASERJET II/III & CENTER FEED COMPATIBLE INSTRUCTIONS: Should work without special configuration. Minor print margin adjustment to suit individual taste. HP LASERJET IIP/IIIP & SIDE FEED COMPATIBLE INSTRUCTIONS: Click the #10 envelope button (check table in WV43DOC.WRI for margin settings for other envelope sizes) on the left and then select 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu. Set the margins as follows: Return Top: 0.1 Return Left: 1.7 Addressee Top: 1.6 Addressee Left: 6.0 Message Top: 3.0 Message Left: 2.2 FIM Top: 0 FIM Left: 8.3 Bar Code Top: 3.5 Bar Code Left: 6.8 In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select: (*) BIN 0 (or BIN 2 for MANUAL FEED PROMPT) (*) LANDSCAPE (*) NORMAL (*) 300 dpi [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked) In Windows Printer Setup, select: Media Size [LETTER 8-1/2 x 11] Source [UPPER] (or LOWER with optional paper cassette) You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope button. HP LASERJET 4 INSTRUCTIONS: Click the #10 envelope button (check table in WV43DOC.WRI for margin settings for other envelope sizes) on the left and then select 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu. Set the margins as follows: Return Top: 0.2 Return Left: 1.7 Addressee Top: 1.6 Addressee Left: 6.0 Message Top: 3.0 Message Left: 2.2 FIM Top: 0 FIM Left: 8.3 Bar Code Top: 3.5 Bar Code Left: 6.8 In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select: (*) BIN 1 (*) LANDSCAPE (*) NORMAL (at 300 dpi) DARKER (at 600 dpi) (*) 300 dpi or 600 dpi [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked) In Windows Printer Setup, select: Media Size [LETTER 8-1/2 x 11] Source [Auto Select] You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope button. DESKJET 500/500C SERIES INSTRUCTIONS: Click the #10 envelope button on the left and then select 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu. Set the margins as follows: Return Top: 0 Return Left: 0 Addressee Top: 1.8 Addressee Left: 4.0 Message Top: 2.8 Message Left: 0 FIM Top: 0 FIM Left: 6.4 Bar Code Top: 3.0 Bar Code Left: 4.9 In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select: (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source... (*) PORTRAIT (*) NORMAL (*) 300 dpi [x] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults Just prior to printing, click the Printer Setup button and select ENVELOPE as the paper size. Place envelope in tray and press the 'ENVELOPE' button on the deskjet printer, to draw the envelope into printing position. (this step is not necessary with some printer drivers) You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope button. DESKJET 550c SERIES INSTRUCTIONS: Click the #10 envelope button on the left and then select 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu. Set the margins as follows: Return Top: 0.2 Return Left: 0 Addressee Top: 2.5 Addressee Left: 4.0 Message Top: 3.0 Message Left: 0 FIM Top: 0 FIM Left: 6.1 Bar Code Top: 3.5 Bar Code Left: 4.9 In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select: (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source... (*) LANDSCAPE (If your printer driver does not recognize the landscape setting here, set it from Printer Setup button) (*) NORMAL (*) 300 dpi [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked) Select LANDSCAPE for orientation and #10 ENVELOPE as the media size in Printer Setup. (if you find that your printer driver recognizes the landscape setting in Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, you can skip setting it here) You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope button. DOT MATRIX PRINTER INSTRUCTIONS: Determine from your printer's documentation whether to print envelopes in portrait or landscape orientation. Select the Business #10 envelope size template and then select 'Print Margins' under Winvelope's File menu. Set the margins initially as follows: (Values in inches) Return Top: 0 Return Left: 0 Addressee Top: 1.8 Addressee Left: 4.0 Message Top: 3.0 Message Left: 0 FIM Top: 0 FIM Left: 6.4 Bar Code Top: 3.5 Bar Code Left: 4.9 Examine the diagram showing the correct location of POSTNET bar codes in Winvelope's Help menu. Print an envelope and adjust the margin settings as necessary to obtain the desired effect. Set the margins for other envelope sizes in the same manner. In Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog, select: (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source... (*) PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE (depending on printer model) (*) NORMAL (24 pin printers) LIGHTER (9 pin printers) (*) 300 dpi [ ] Disable Winvelope's Printing Defaults (leave unchecked) In Windows Printer Setup, select: Media Size [ENVELOPE #10, MONARCH, etc.] (if your printer uses a sheet feeder as opposed to continuous fanfold paper, you may not have to change the media size prior to printing. Source [depends on printer] If you disable your printer's PAPER OUT sensor, you can in most cases leave the Media Size to LETTER and save a step. You should now be able to print by clicking the Print Envelope button. HIGH CAPACITY ENVELOPE FEEDERS: If you find that none of the BIN # settings in Winvelope's Printing Defaults dialog causes your special envelope feeder/tray to feed, you will have to select... (*) Use Windows Printer Setup to select paper source... and choose the correct setting from the Printer Setup button.
