    INSTALLATION - Simply copy the disk onto your hard  disk  and
    type 'PAM' or 'PAM-D'  for the shareware  version.  The  Menu
    Manager Main Menu will appear.

    CURSOR MOVEMENTS - The  following  is  a brief description of
    keys used to navigate  through  options  on the screen with a
    mouse or without a mouse.

        MOUSE

        You may use the mouse  to select an option.  Position the
        mouse on the option to  select and press the left button,
        this will select this option.  You may also highlight the
        selections in a window by  moving the mouse over the line
        to select.

        Some of the windows have  arrows, you may click the  left
        mouse  button on  the arrows to  move up,  down, left, or
        right.

        To move the  windows  with  a  mouse,  position the mouse
        inside the window and press the right mouse button.  This
        will allow you to move the window anywhere on the screen.
        To  resize the window, position  the  mouse  on the right
        edge of the window and press the right mouse button, this
        allows the window to be  expanded  to the right.  You may
        also position the mouse  along  the  bottom of the window
        and press the right button to expand the window down.

        NO MOUSE

        UP Arrow moves to the previous line in a window.
        DOWN Arrow moves to the next line in a window.
        PGUP moves to the previous page, if more than one screen
             of information is available.
        PGDN moves to the next page, if more than one screen of
             information is available.
        HOME moves to the top line in a window.
        END moves to the last line in a window.
        CTRL+HOME moves to the top line of information.
        CTRL+END moves to the last line of information.
        RIGHT ARROW moves the information in the window to the
             left.
        LEFT ARROW moves the information in the window to the
             left.
        ESCape Exits.
        RETURN selects the highlighted line.

        The following keys work if SCROLL LOCK is on, or the
        SHIFT plus the Number pad arrows are used.


        Left Arrow moves window left  | SHIFT+Left Arrow Contracts
        Right Arrow moves window right| SHIFT+Right Arrow Expands
        Up Arrow moves window up      | SHIFT+Up Arrow Contracts

    F2-DOS - This  option  allows  execute  several different DOS
        commands.

        1. Format Floppy Disk
        Select this  option  to format a floppy disk in either A:
        or B: Drive.

        2. Check Disk
        Select  this  option  to run  a DOS check disk. This will
        notify you of any problems that  might exist on your hard
        disk.

        3. Rename File
        Select  this  option  to  rename a DOS  file. You will be
        prompted to enter the  current file,  then  the new  file
        name you wish to use.

        4. Copy File
        Select  this  option  to  copy  a  DOS  file. You will be
        prompted to enter the  current file,  then  the new  file
        name you wish to copy to.

        5. Delete File
        Select  this  option  to  delete a DOS  file. You will be
        prompted to enter the  file name you wish to delete.

        6. Move File
        Select  this  option  to  move a  DOS  file. You  will be
        prompted to enter the  current file,  then  the new  file
        name you wish to move to.

        7. Backup to Floppy Disk
        Select  this  option  to  backup DOS  files. You  will be
        prompted to enter the  backup  parameters  for the BACKUP
        command.  Consult you  DOS manual for variations  of this
        command.

        8. Restore from Floppy
        Select  this  option  to  restore DOS files. You  will be
        prompted to enter the  restore parameters for the RESTORE
        command.  Consult you  DOS manual for variations  of this
        command.

        9. DOS Window
        Select this  option  to  exit to DOS. Simply type EXIT to
        return to the Menu Manager.

        0. Tree Directory
        Select this option to  display a  DOS tree  structure  of
        your hard disk. You also do  a directory  listing of  any
        subdirectory from this option.

    F8-MAINTENANCE - This  option  allows  you to add/edit/delete
        programs to run, add  a  master  password,  or change the
        company information.

        F4-EDIT -  To  edit  program  information,  highlight the
        proper line and press F4 or  click the mouse on F4.  This
        will allow you to  change  the program description, path,
        program name, memory  requirements,  and password.  Press
        enter through each field to save the changes.

        F5-COMPANY  NAME  -  Choose  this  option  to  change the
        company name that appears on the main menu.

        F6-ADD - Choose this option to  add  a new program to the
        main menu.  Enter in a description of the program you are
        adding and the full path  of  the program.  Next enter in
        the program that will be  run when selecting this option.
        You may specify the memory  requirements or enter zero to
        utilize all  memory  available.   You  may  also  enter a
        password for the program.

        F7-DELETE - Choose this option  to  delete a program from
        the main menu.  Highlight the program to delete and press
        F7 or click F7 with the mouse.

        F10-PASSWORD - Choose this option to enter a password for
        the highlighted program.

    F9-DIRECTORY - This option  allows  you  to list the files in
        the in the current directory and view Ascii files.  After
        selecting  this  option  all  the  files  in  the current
        directory will be displayed on  the screen.  You may also
        view any ascii file by highlighting the file and pressing
        enter or clicking the mouse on the file to view.

        F3-SORT - This option will  sort the directory display on
        the screen.

        F5-MASK -  This  option  allows  you  to  display certain
        files.  For example, if  you  enter  *.txt  for the mask,
        only files with the extension txt will be displayed.  You
        may also use question marks.   For  example, if you enter
        PAM??.DBF for the mask, any file that begins with PAM and
        contains two more  characters  and  has the extension DBF
        will be displayed.

    F10-UTILITY - This option allows  you  to use various utility
        programs.

        1. - Color Parameters
        This  option  allows   you   to   customize  your  screen
        color attributes.   All   possible   color   combinations
        will be  displayed with  a  corresponding  number.   Just
        enter this number in the option you wish to change.

        Following is a brief description of each option available
        for change.

        Standard:  This  is the color of all menus and data entry
                   routines.

        Enhanced:  This will be the color of the fields currently
                   currently available for input.

        Active:    This is the color  to the current  field, i.e.
                   where the cursor is located.

        Calc/Npad: This is the color of the pop-up calculator and
                   notepad.

        Status:    This  will be  the color  of  the  status line
                   line displayed at the top of the screen at all
                   times.

        Window:    This is  the  windows  that pop up for various
                   input options.

        View:      This will be  the  color  of  the  screen when
                   displaying lists of clients,  vendors, etc. on
                   the screen.

        Help:      This is the color of all help panels.

        It will then ask if  you  want  to set the intensity off.
        If you set the intensity off,  the blocked cursor will no
        longer  be  in  a  blocked  form.  It  will   display the
        colors you chose and ask  if these  are  the  colors  you
        wish to use.  If you answer  yes  it will save  these  as
        your colors.  If  you  do  not  like  the colors you have
        chosen  answer  no  and  it  will  take  you back  to the
        color options and you may change them.

        F3 - Palette  -  This  option  allows  you  to change the
        colors to access up to  512  different colors.  Each time
        you choose F3 the colors will reset to the default colors
        for each line.  So if you want to change just one line of
        colors to will  have  to  reset  each  line that you have
        previous changed.  The color number will be displayed and
        you may arrow up and down to change the color.  To select
        the color press enter.

        2. - Notepad
        This option will allow  you  to  edit  a text file called
        notepad.txt.  F3 will delete   the  line  your  on and F4
        will insert a line before the  line you  are on.  F5 will
        wrap words  when you get  to column 69.  F6 turns  scroll
        lock on and  off,  when  off  the  text  will scroll when
        arrowing  up  and down.   Press  Escape  to  exit and you
        will  have  the  option  to save the changes. Some others
        keys are  as follows:

        Page Up and Down - moves  up and down a screen, CTRL+Left
        and  Right  arrow moves  to  the  previous and next word,
        CTRL+Page Up and  Page   Down   takes  you to the top and
        bottom of the file, End and Home takes you to the end and
        beginning of a line,  CTRL+Home  and End takes you to the
        top and bottom of a screen.

        3. - Re-Boot Computer
        This option allows you to reboot your computer.  You have
        the option to do a warm or cold boot. A warm boot is like
        pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and a cold boot is like turning off
        your  computer and then turning it back on.

        4. - Set DOS Time/Date
        This  option allows you to set the DOS date and time.

        5. - Memory  Status
        This  option  will display memory information such as how
        much memory your system has, how much used, and how  much
        available. It will also show expanded or extended  memory
        DOS version, and CPU type.

        6. - Calculator
        First  enter  the  beginning   number  and  press  enter,
        followed by the  math  operation   and  enter,  then  the
        second number  and enter.   Repeat this process  as  many
        times  as needed.  The total  number will be saved, while
        in Painless Accounting.

        7. - Calendar
        This  option  will  display  a calendar  for the  current
        month.  By pressing  the  arrow  left  and right keys the
        month will  change. Pressing  the arrow  up and down keys
        will change the year. Press enter to input  appointments.
        You will be prompted  for the day to  enter  appointments
        for.  The time begins  at 8 a.m. and goes to 7:30 p.m. in
        increments of thirty minutes.

        8. - Word Processor
        This option will allow you to edit a text file.  Enter in
        the name  of the file, you  may also specify a path name.
        F3  will delete  the line  your  on  and F4 will insert a
        line before the line  you   are  on.   F5 will wrap words
        when you get  to column 69.  F6 turns  scroll lock on and
        off, when off the text will scroll when arrowing  up  and
        down.  Press Escape  to  exit  and  you  will   have  the
        option  to save the  changes.  Some  others  keys are  as
        follows:  Page Up and Down -  moves up and down a screen,
        CTRL+Left  and  Right  arrow  moves  to  the previous and
        next word, CTRL+Page Up and  Page  Down  takes you to the
        top and bottom of the file, End and Home takes you to the
        end and beginning of  a  line,   CTRL+Home  and End takes
        you to the top and bottom of a screen.


        9. - Phone Directory
        This option allows you to enter in phone numbers.

           F2 - Dial Phone - This  option will dial the phone for
           you.  Just highlight the number  to  dial and press F2
           or click the mouse on F2.

           F4 - Edit - This  option  will  allow  you to edit any
           phone numbers displayed.  Highlight  the  line to edit
           and press F4.  You  can  then  change  the name, phone
           number, and comments.

           F6 - Add - Select this  option  to add a new number to
           the list.  Enter in  the  name,  phone number, and any
           comment.

           F7 - Delete -  Select  this  option  to delete a phone
           number.  Highlight the number  to  delete and press F7
           or click F7 with the mouse.

        0. - Park Disk Heads
        This option will park the disk heads. This should be done
        before moving a computer to help prevent loss of data.

        B. - Background
        Select  this  option to change the  background. You  have
        seven different background options to choose from.

        S. -  Screen  Saver  (ALT+V)
        Select  this  option to specify the number  of minutes of
        inactivity before the screen will blank out.

        V. - Video Type  Settings
        This  option allows you to change  the  text  font.   You
        have  several  video type settings to choose from.

        M. - Phone/Modem Setup
        You  this  option to indicate which port your phone/modem
        is connected to.

        E. - Extended Memory
        Select  this  option  to indicate  if  you  want  to  use
        extended memory. This  will allow for faster processing.
