How To Hide Your IP in ICQ.

For someone to get your IP# (Internet Protocal #) in icq, they almost always have to have a Direct Connection (DC)
with you. Most chat clients (like icq) will by default make a direct connection with the person
your talkin to instead of going through the chat servers. That makes chatting faster and 
also takes a load off their servers. To hide your IP, you have to configure your icq to go
through the chat server instead of through a DC.

1) In ICQ click on the big "ICQ" button and in the menu click on "Security & Privacy."
If its not there then you have a diff version of icq. search around, you'll find it somewhere.

2) Click on the Connections Tab.

3) There should be 3 dot's. Select the one with "Allow DC with user apon authorization."

4) Click Apply or whatever and logoff/reconnect to icq. Your IP should been hidden to most people.

**  Note that a File Transfer is Always Done From Client->Client. Not Client->Server->Client so 
 incase your "slow" that will 'unhide' your IP to who ever you send/recieve a file transfer with. **
