K7 Scramble

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: K7 Scramble

Format: Win OS

Description: This is an addon script with dialog, popups and custom windows interface for playing scramble. The author wrote a fairly nice help file, with a description of all the different options of the script in addition to setup instructions & version updates. The addon is easy to install, only requiring the loading of a single remote file. Once loaded, you can use the popup menu in the channel section to configure and play. Well, there are 4 modes to the script. Manual mode, Window Mode, Dialog Mode and Automatic Mode. They are all described in the help file. From what I can tell, the script seems to work more or less. I couldn't get the Automatic Mode to work at all (only being able to stop but not being able to start). A dialog window is present for you to enter your words and their respective hints. The buttons are a little small and sometimes, when you switch to another window and then back again, certain elements of the dialog window overrun. One extremely annoying point about the script is that

KS Away

Title: KS Away

Format: Win OS

Description: I'm basically taking the old review's bits and pieces and using them here. Kryptonic Away is an AwaySystem addon that will basically allow you to use the simple away system functions, such as: A pager, A message logger (And a channel logger) and away nick/regular nick options. The documentation was VERY short. It only explains why the author created this fix version and what he did to make it better (ie: actually added a pager and logger). The problem is, he rushed through this one so quickly that he removed the menus for it. If you still want to use this addon, despite this big mistake, just type: /dialog -m away away although I would not recommend using the addon past this point. After that, I tried just clicking the 'Set Back' button and I got this: * /nick: insufficient parameters (line 146, ks2.mrc). This fix did not fix much of the error checking, unfortunately. I had hoped that it would. You still get this error when you do something the addon doesn't like: awayerror Unknown command. Yo

KS Nick Completor

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: KS Nick Completor 1

Format: Win OS

Description: A simple and easy to use Nickname Completer, complete with three NC styles and a simple dialog interface. A small readme file is included. Simplistic is what the author was going for, and simplistic is what we got. This is not a bad thing, however. If you want a non-obtrusive NC, and want colours instead of just using the TAB key, then this is for you. The readme contained sufficient instructions for loading the script. All three styles are fairly similar, and there is no way to create new styles without having a good hack at the script. I would have liked to see some sort of way to create your own styles, especially those 'illegal' ones that deform the nick *G*. The only real coding problem with this addon is that if you type a: for instance, and have more than one nickname on the channel that starts with a, then the script will default to the first nickname. A dialog or @window would be nice in the next version. The author uses a while $nick($chan(#,%i)) loop to find matches. While this is a

Kalc

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Kalc 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Very simple and basic calculator, dialog support . The script does have a readme.txt file, however, the file extension is rather unusual and the name not exactly indicative of its nature. At the beginning I thought that it was a file that was used by the script to store settings or what not. The addon is rather easy to use. But it's not very complex either. To be blunt, it's just a way to use the $calc() identifier in a dialog window. It doesn't have any buttons to support the numbers or the mathematical operators, etc. The authour should have also uncommented some of the lines or deleted them completely, since they are not in use. The entire essence of the script can be replaced by using: "//echo -a $calc( your calculations here )". However, if you like the visual aspect of it, feel free to get it.

Kool Channel Protection

Title: Kool Channel Protection

Format: Win OS

Description: Channel flood protection which covers the following areas: lines/seconds flood, length of line flood, repeat, join/parts, caps and colours. The author wrote a brief readme file with the requirements of the addon, what it contains and the a onet a little bit tedious. While running through the script and testing it on two big channels, the addon does appear to work. It does what it sets out to do. You have the option of only warning someone, kicking them or kick/banning them. You can also chose to have the information about a kick echo'ed to your active window. What a find a little bit lacking about the addon is the fact that it does not exempt ops/voices/helpers from its flood protection. Also, in one particular case, I had 4 echos of the same
