BNC Manager-System

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: BNC Manager-System 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that allows you to easily manage your different BNC (Bouncer) servers & information. The author wrote a nice readme.txt file and also had internal documentation in his script via a nicely laid-out help dialog. The script was easily accessable via the status and menubar popups, which opened the main dialog interface which allowed you to modify your different accounts etc. Not everyone is familiar with what a BNC is and might have downloaded the script simply out of curiosity. Perhaps the author could have also included a few URLs for downloading BNC or for more information on the subject. One thing that I didn't like about the script was that if you chose to open another dialog window, it will go over the current one. Perhaps the next version could close the one that you are currently using and then reopen it when you click on the respective button. Another suggestion I have for the author is to *not* specify a default server for the user when the latter doesn't specify it. The reference

BNC&NICKNAME MANAGER

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: BNC&NICKNAME MANAGER 5.5

Format: Win OS

Description: As the name of the addon points out very accurately, the script is designed for managing your BNCs and NickNames (with NickServ type services) easily. Dialog interface. The author included a brief readme file with setup instructions and contact information. The script is easy to set up as long as you are sure to unzip everything into the main mIRC directory. May I recommend that the author use $scriptdir for loading the BMP file in the future? =) From what I can tell, the script works for the most part. When you first start up, you'll encounter an error of: "* $read: error opening c:\irc\reviewing\bnc.ini (line 305, nbnc.mrc)" as the bnc.ini file (used for storing the settings) hasn't been created yet. Beyond that, there are a number of other places where there should have been some more error checking as to prevent error messages. The dialog interface is clean and easy to understand. As for the BNC section, I would like to see a section where the user is able to specify a section for a port n

BaT No Flood

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: BaT No Flood

Format: Win OS

Description: Channel flood protection script with dialog interface. Quite customizable .. with three built-in levels (low/medium/high) and one that you can personalize. You can also specify your own kick messages, what actions to take (kick/temp kick&ban or kick&ban). The script comes with a very brief readme file with setup instructions and contact information. It should be noted that the script actually installs itself by creating a directory, renaming files, etc. That's actually a bit unusual .. at least from what I'm used to. :) But it does seem to work fine so I don't really have any complaints. The dialog interface is clear and easy to understand - for the most part. For the non-Spanish speaking users out there, the options in the drop down menus are in Spanish and mean "Low", "Medium" and "High" in that order. "Personal" means that you can customize the values. Other than that, everything should be pretty much self-evident. When I briefly went through some of the options of the script everything see

Bandwidth Monitor

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Bandwidth Monitor 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that allows you to see the amount of bandwidth that is being used by mIRC through dcc sends/gets. Dialog window support and also contains a "stopwatch" function. Basically, you can keep track of the total amount of data you have sent during a certain interval. Readme file is pleasing to the eye and very detailed. Contains setup instructions, description of the addon and contact information. The addon is easy to use. The dialog window can be opened through the various popup sections or through an alias. I didn't encounter any bugs while running the script. Everything seems to be just fine. The addon updates the information for the cps at an interval of your chosing. Uninstalling the addon is also a piece of cake. Coding is clean and well organized. Local aliases, error checking, well named aliases, etc. The author could have used mIRC's "while" function for loops though. But all in all, very well done.

BattleNet Client

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: BattleNet Client 0.1

Format: Win OS

Description: A pretty cool addon that allows you to connect to Battle.net for chatting from within mIRC. This script would definitely be of use to those who use both Battle.net and mIRC simultaneously. Unfortunately, I have never used Battle.net before and am unable to test this addon. So, this review will be based entirely on what it claims its features are. The documentation did not say too much about how to use the script, however it is fairly self explanatory. Once the script is loaded, it instructs you to use the popups that are available through the status or channel windows. From the popup, you can choose to set an IP (which I assume is the Battle.net server's IP address), port (which I assume is the port to connect to on the Battle.net server), username and password. All-in-all, a pretty good idea and something that will definitely appeal to the slice of users that you both Battle.net and mIRC.
