Auto-Join v4 98

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Auto-Join v4 98 4.98

Format: Win OS

Description: French addon that allows you to automatically join certain channels on connect, depending on which network you are connecting to (DALnet, Undernet or EFnet). The author didn't include a readme file, so you'll have to figure out which one of the three remote files to install. Since they are called auto-join.mrc, auto-join2.mrc and auto-join3.mrc, I just to load auto- join.mrc .. thankfully, it worked ;) On first installation, the script loaded all the other files and then gave me an error of: "* /dialog: 'ydomination.config.dialog' name in use". The script is configured in a nice & clean dialog window that allows you to join up to 8 channels at one time. There are still a few bugs, but at least the script works now. You have to have all channels in order though, meaning that if you don't have a channel filled in for spot 2, then spot 3 won't work, etc. It will also give you an error of: "* /join: insufficient parameters (line 29, auto-join.mrc)" because the author forgot to unset certain variab

Auto-Join

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Auto-Join 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that joins certain channels depending on the network that you just connected to. First off, I have to say that this new version is a definite improvement over the old one. The readme file has been completed in many respects, the dialog interface correctly saves the information now, etc. While there are still a few things that can be improved, the script works this time. However, since it relies on the mIRC identifier $network, it's unfortunate that you won't be able to really use it that well on EFnet. In addition, everytime that you add a network name, the drop down menu will show a blank space as the first option, a minor irritation. It would also be nice to have an actual CLOSE button to the dialog and perhaps some error checking to see if what the person typed was truly a channel or not (checking for the #, &, + sign or what not), etc. The coding is decent. :) Hint: you can use "if ($identifier)" instead of "if ($identifier != $null)". The coding is alright and once you actually mana

AutoIdentify

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: AutoIdentify 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Simple addon that allows you to auto-identify to certain services of your choice (NickServ, NickBot, X, W, etc.) for your nick(s) - with a max of 5 in mind. The addon has a well enough made readme file, explaining how to install it, use it, what exactly it is, etc. Once you have installed it, you can configure it through the popups available in the channel or menubar sections. It has a nice dialog setup so it's easy enough to use. I find that the script works well enough but there are a few things that worry me. First of all, the script is by no way network specific. If someone used the nick X or W or NickBot on another network they would be able to steal the password from you fairly easily. Also, the passwords themselves are stored in a *.ini file without being encrypted or at least changed a bit. Last of all, I wonder if the identification command is the same for all services since it's hardcoded into the script and is not changeable. The scripting is okay. Suggestions for the author: the us

Autojoin IRC

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Autojoin IRC 2.1

Format: Win OS

Description: A Network sensitive autojoin script. Allows you to join different chanenls based on what network/server you are connected to. The script was easy enough to install, however using it was a different matter. The docs didn't explain what a Network was, or what you had to put for a server. Can you use wildcards? Stuff like this needs to be explained. Also it would have been nice if the script pulled some info from mIRC's servers list. The script worked fine if you know how to configure it, I encountered no error msgs or problems as such. The dialog was nice and clean however once again I have to comment on the lack of explanation on how to use it. It would also be a good idea to disable buttons that can't do anything unless you have entered some information (e.g. the delete and add buttons). The coding seemed a bit dragged out, but it does the job just fine. Overall a very good auto-join script, easy to use ONCE you know how. Hopefully the author will write some more instructions then it'll be a r

Away Sys

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Away Sys 4

Format: Win OS

Description: Average away system addon. Nice readme file with setup instructions, contact information, description of the addon itself, etc. You can use the popup menus or the dialog interface to work with the script. When you first load it, you'll get a nice custom window with info on how to actually use it. The script is still buggy .. unfortunately. The author forgets that you cannot directly call $?=" " or related from a remote event, but have to go about it through a timer. In addition, I find that the @Pager didn't actually save the time when someone paged you. Another thing is that while it may allow you to *add* further possible away reasons, it doesn't allow you to unset them. The author might want to add a button for that. :) The coding is okay, but I find that the use of local aliases might have been a big plus in here. The author uses well chosen variable names and custom identifiers/aliases, good. :)
