W E E K V I E W - Version 1.2b  -- Week-at-a-glance View from Pimlico Software

                       IMPORTANT NOTES - READ THIS!!
                       =============================

NOTE: If you have a HotSync User ID with extended characters (such as ) it is barely possible that your original Registration code may not work. If you find that this version is no longer registered, just send us an email, and we will respond immediately with an updated Registration code for you.

You should be able to install this new version directly on top of prior versions without difficulty, in which case your preference settings and Registration code will remain intact.

However, in the unlikely event that you have difficulty installing this new version, we suggest that you remove your prior version (by going to the MEMORY application and clicking on the DELETE APPS button and selecting WeekView for deletion) and then install this new version. If you do that, you will have to reset your preferences and insert your registration code again.

                       NEW FEATURES IN Version 1.2b
                       ============================

BUG FIX IN V-1.2b

   On V-2 PalmPilots only, WeekView was generating a spurious <<Sound Mgr,Line:403 bad sys sound id>> error when the System date or time was changed in Preferences. This problem caused NO loss of data and the date/time change was made properly. V-1.2b corrects this problem.

                       NEW FEATURES IN Version 1.2a
                       ============================

WORDWRAP IN DETAILS DIALOG

   There is now a preference item to wordwrap all entries in the details dialog.

BUG FIXES IN V-1.2a

   BOLD, CONDENSED TEXT. Now displays properly (V-1.2 had text extending past the vertical bar).

   NO ENTRY IN DAYS DIALOG. If you click on the OK button but have not entered anything into the dialog, it now ignores the command (V-1.2 generated a RESET error for the missing data).

   CONFIRMATION OF PEN DOWN. In the Details dialog, you can now hold the pen down and move it over the various entries and notes and see the item highlighted. Only when the pen is released will the most recently highlighted item be activated.

                       NEW FEATURES IN Version 1.2a
                       ============================

NOTE ACCESS

   In the Details dialog, entries that have notes now have the note symbol at the end of the line. if you click on the Note symbol, the note (up to 16 lines) will be displayed in a read-only window. An EDIT button at the top of the screen will go directly to that note in the Datebook application for editing. Tap anywhere in the note text (or below it) to return to the prior screen.

WEEKNUMBERS CAN BE CUSTOMIZED

   A preference item now allows you to use the Pilot Standard weeknumber format or a custom weeknumber format. For a custom weeknumber, you can specify the start of week 1 of the year --useful if you are using weeknumbers in a financial year, or you have a different convention (from the ISO standard) for specifying week numbers

WEEKNUMBER DISPLAY

   Weeknumbers are now displayed in the "normal" title (except over a year boundary). You can still toggle to the weeknumber display. In the Weeknumber selection dialog, the current week is shown with a bold number and the current week is displayed with a bold box. The CAL button in the main screen now shows the proper weeknumber dialog (for V-2 PalmPilots) and also displays weeks starting on Monday to match the main WeekView display (without disturbing the system preference for the start of the week).

DAY OFFSET

   A new dialog allows you to specify a displacement in days (+ or -) from the current week. So you can easily move to a week that is 125 days in advance from the current week for example.

SINGLE TAP IN DETAILS DIALOG TO EDIT ENTRY

   Rather than tapping an entry and tapping the EDIT button, you now just tap the entry to go into Datebook, or tap below the last line or the DONE button to return to the main weekly view. This is faster and more convenient.

QUICK SWITCH TO TODAY

   You can now switch to the week that contains today's date by stroking a 't' or '.' on the graffiti screen. The period is convenient, because it means that you can just double-tap the graffiti area (which is easy to remember and reliable and you can also do it with your finger). For V-2 PalmPilots, if the Datebook button is set to launch WeekView, then tapping the button while WeekView is running will also go to today's date.

REPEAT ITEMS FLAGGED

   Repeat items are now flagged in the details view with the standard Repeat symbol (V-2 PalmPilots) or a diamond (V-1 Pilots).

BUG FIXES IN V-1.2

   FOR BLANK SCREEN. V-1.1a introduced a new bug that if wordwrap was disabled and there was only one entry for a day, a blank screen would be displayed in the details dialog.

   INVALID CHUNK PTR ERROR. Switching to other applications when the weeknumber or registration number dialogs were displayed in V-1.1a caused a reset error.

   TAP PROBLEM IN DETAILS DIALOG. Prior versions had a 2-pixel error which caused the line below the current line to be selected if you tapped near the bottom of the line above.

                       NEW FEATURES IN Version 1.1a
                       ============================

JUMP DIRECTLY TO DAY IN DATEBOOK FROM MAIN WEEKVIEW SCREEN

   To jump to a day in the datebook application, click on the inverted date in that day cell (i.e. that has the day of week and day of month displayed in white on black). If there is only one appointment on that day, the cursor will be placed in that appointment (Unless it is a repeat appointment), otherwise, the cursor will be placed in the first hour of that day. With this feature, you may find it convenient to switch the Datebook button to load WeekView instead (a preference setting on V-2 PalmPilots, or a hack extension for V-1. Pilots).

JUMP TO SPECIFIC WEEKNUMBER

   To jump quickly to a specific week, select the Goto Week Number item in the OPTIONS menu (or stroke Command/W in the graffiti area) and then press the button corresponding to the week you want to go to (if displaying the Month&Year, WeekView will switch to displaying the week number for confirmation - just tap the week number in the title line to toggle back to displaying the Month and Year).

TODAY NOW FLAGGED EVEN IF NO APPOINTMENTS

   Today's cell will have the first appointment set in bold type. If there are no appointments for today's date, "(Today)" will appear in the middle of the cell.

OPTIONAL DISPLAY OF WEEK NUMBER IN TITLE BAR

   To display the week number and number of weeks from the current week, just tap the date in the title line. The display will toggle between showing the Month and Year and the week number. The week number displayed matches the week number displayed in the Datebook application. The Pilot appears to adhere to the ISO specification for Week Numbers (the first week of the year is the first week in which there are four or more days of that year in that first week). This may not necessarily match your usage of week Numbers (for example, the Psion series PDA's use a different algorithm and their week numbers differ by 1 throughout 1998). Note that the initial setting for the title can be set as a preference item.

EDIT BUTTON DISPLAYED

The EDIT button is now displayed at all times in the Details View. If you click it with no item selected, Datebook is activated and the cursor will be placed in the first hour of that day.

END OF LINE DISPLAY ANOMALY FIXED

End of line codes embedded in the appointment text is now treated as a space rather than displaying an odd character...

PILOTGEAR REGISTRATION

   If you wish to register via the InterNet, you can now navigate to: http://www2.viaweb.com/pilotgearsw/weekview.html which handle the registration through PilotGear for the same price of $15.

FIX FOR HIDDEN RECORD DISPLAY BUG ON PILOT 1000 AND 5000

A problem of displaying Hidden records that occurred only on Pilot 1000 and 5000 running the V-1 Palm O/S has been corrected in this version. The problem did NOT occur on the PalmPilots running the V-2 O/S.
