Description
===============
"Weight & Balance" is an application to assist pilots in computing the
total weight and moment of their aircraft. It allows you to define and
save the constants: Empty Weight, Gross Weight, Empty Moment and seven
user definable stations and their arms. After that, you would merely
enter the weights at each station and the program computes the totals.
If you enter enough points (up to 100) from the "Weight and Balance"
graph in your plane's operating manual, the program can then plot that
graph on your PalmPilot screen, compare the total loaded weight and the
total loaded moment with the graph, and display the appropriate warning
messages if the CG or gross weight limits are exceeded.

"Weight & Balance" can keep records for up to 100 airplanes.

===============
Installation
===============
"Weight & Balance" was written with CASL 2.0, so if you have any other
CASL application installed on your Pilot which uses older (1.0) version
of CASL, please contact me before installing W&B 0.8.

If you are using W&B 0.5, please delete CASLRT and W&B from your Pilot
before installing W&B 0.8.

If you have the PalmPilot Personal/Professional or have the Pilot
1000/5000 upgraded with the 1Mb Pro board (i.e. if you have Palm OS 2.0
or later - check installed OS with Pilot's Memory application) then
you must install CASLRT_PRO.PRC. Otherwise, install CASLRT_5K.PRC.
You must also install WANDB.PRC.

===============
Instructions
===============
To start "Weight & Balance" tap on the "W&B" icon. You can also start
"CASLrt" and choose among installed CASL programs.

There are five forms in W&B. When no planes are defined, the "Plane
Data" form is opened first (It can be opened from the menu also). You
can customize the stations to suite your plane (i.e. edit station names
and arms). After clicking on the "Save" button, the details form is opened.

While you enter weights, the moments and totals are automatically
recalculated, so there is no need for a "Calculate" button after
version 0.5.

"Clear" button clears weight fields (except for the empty weight).

"Delete" button deletes current plane and all of its data and (if it
exists) its "CG Graph Points" database.

"Save" button saves all data and returns you to the main form where you
can choose another plane or define a new one.

When you are on a details form, you can select the menu option "CG Graph
Points" to define the CG Graph database for the current plane. This is
where you enter the moments for the forward CG limit and the aft CG
limit for various weights along your plane's envelope. Choose several
points between the empty weight and gross weight, being careful to
include any points where the envelope changes directions at either the
forward CG limit or the aft CG limit. The number of necessary points
depends on the complexity of the graph. If the graph for your plane
contains a sub-envelope for the "utility category", do not enter these
points. In most cases 5-10 points will be enough. The limit is 100 CG
points for each plane. When entering moment figures, be sure to conform
to the "moment/100" or "moment/1000" convention that you will choose to
caclulate the CG. (See "Moment/100" and "Moment/1000" below.)

After you define the graph points for your envelope, use the "Check"
button (on the details form) to view the graph on your Pilot's screen.
The total calculated weight and moment is drawn as a cross. "Over
gross" and "Outside envelope" warning messages are also displayed as
necessary.
If no points for weight equal to or greater than "Gross weight" are
defined, then a "Not enough CG points!" warning message is displayed
and long horizontal line for "Gross weight" is drawn.

"Moment/100" and "Moment/1000" menu options define the way that W&B
calculates moments for plane's stations. For the first option, the
formula is: Moment = Weight * Arm / 100, and for the second option the
formula is: Moment = Weight * Arm / 1000.

IMPORTANT: Be sure that you enter moments for the empty weight and
moments in your graph points database, that conform to the choice you
make for this option. In other words, enter moments that are either
divided by 100 or 1000, in accordance with the option you chose above.
You cannot change this menu option after your graph points are listed,
or your graph will not plot properly.

There are also three menu options to define the number of decimal places
that W&B will use when rounding calculations.
