SwitchHack 1.21

Do you only run one Pilot program? Of course you don't!

SwitchHack provides a simple and fast method to switch between recent Pilot
applications. Launch a program (via launcher, hardware buttons or silk buttons) and you
can switch to the original program with a single stroke. Apply the stroke a second time
and you have switched back to the new program.

It's like they are both running at the same time!

But Version 1.21 of SwitchHack now goes even further.
Bypass your launcher to turbocharge your PalmPilot productivity.

SwitchHack now gives you, with a single stroke, an instant menu of the ten most recently
run applications for you to select by name. Why wade through the screens of icons to
return to a program you were recently running?
You know where you want to go, so just go there!

SwitchHack still gives you the convenience of toggling between two applications, but
now gives instant access to TEN applications at once. But not a pre-determined set of
ten applications, SwitchHack offers you the most important applications - those you are
currently using.

As a bonus, SwitchHack will return to the last viewed/edited address when switching
back to the Address Book application, rather tham returning to the list of addresses.
This makes transcribing an address much easier as you don't have to keep finding the
particular address each time you switch back.

With SwitchHack, you can:

Look up an address, phone number, the time, etc and return to where you were
Use two programs in conjunction (use a spreadsheet while writing a report)
Copy text you frequently use, go create a shortcut for it, and switch back
Schedule an appointment without interrupting your work
HotSync, then immediately return to the program you were running
Developers can install a new version of a program and run it with a button press,
          and a single stroke
Quickly switch out of a game when the boss comes by, and go back when the boss is gone
Let your Pilot follow your train of thought
Even switch between Tricorder and SoftGPS (serious businessmen beware!)

What are these magic strokes?
To switch to your previous application, drag from your application button (that's the
button you press to bring up the launcher - and has "applications" written under it) to
the graffiti area. To switch back again, simply stroke from the app button to the
graffiti area again. It can easily be done with a finger instead of the stylus.

To bring up the menu of the ten most recent applications, drag upwards from the menu button
to the applications button. The menu will appear in the bottom left of the screen,
right under your stylus.

SwitchHack does not count launcher style programs as applications, so you can
pop up the launcher, go back to your application and still switch between apps.
SwitchHack also skips HotSync, so you can press the HotSync button and then still
toggle between your previous applications. CheckIn is now also skipped, so you can
still toggle between the same two applications after power-down

SwitchHack works with all released launcher programs

     Inbuilt launcher
     QuickLaunch
     LaunchPad
     AppMan
     Dovcom PAL
     Stingersoft Launcher
LookAtMe - Allows you to go back after it pops up the specified application

Users of PAL will gain the capability of the inbuilt launcher, and the latest
LaunchPad to return from the launcher to the previous application.

INSTALLATION
Switch is a HackMaster extension. You will need a copy of the HackMaster
application from Edward Keyes at DaggerWare, which can be found at
http://www.daggerware.com/hackmstr.htm
Remember to register HackMaster at PalmPilotGear too.

Install Hackmaster first (if not already installed), then install SwitchHack.prc
using InstApp or any other application installation program.

Then launch Hackmaster on your Pilot, and turn on the check box for SwitchHack.

Now run two other programs (any programs will do) and switch between them by
dragging from the application button to the graffiti area with the stylus
or your finger.

Now Task Switch to your heart's content....

KNOWN PROBLEMS

With QuickLaunch, do not use the small icon to access the Memory application.
Use the memory icon instead. There is a new version of QuickLaunch that fixes
this bug - hassle Landware for an update. The version number hasn't changed,
so it is tricky to tell (apart from pressing the Memory gadget, of course).
