Welcome to PilotADE !! version 1.23
	============================================

This software runs under Win95 and NT4 so long as you use MY versions of the controls in system.zip. It will not work under Windows 3.1.
Let's get started ....

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=========================

From the PilotADE download page you should have downloaded the following files:

PilotADE.zip
PilotADEHelp.zip
System.zip
Samples.zip

Contents of the zip files
-------------------------

PilotADE.zip:
 PilotADE.exe:	The PilotADE program, PilotADE.exe
 PilotADE.ini: The ini file
 ReadMe.txt:	This file
. Versions.txt:	History of changes, bugs fixed, etc.
- Msghoo32.ocx: Please place this in your Windows\System directory.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: To enable drag and dropping to function correctly, please place the Msghoo32.ocx into your Windows\System directory. If PilotADE crashes on loading, it will be because this control is not in your Windows\System directory. If it is, and it still crashes, then open up a DOS window, navigate to the Windows\System directory and type: regsvr32.exe msghoo32.ocx

This should fix it.

PilotADEHelp.zip:
 PilotADE.hlp: Help file
 PilotADE.cnt:	The help contents file

System.zip:
 System files: Ctl3d32.dll, Comdlg32.ocx, Comctl32.ocx, Olepro32.dll, Richtx32.ocx, Tabctl32.ocx

Samples.zip:
Samples: Source code, both GCC and ASDK, for various applications you can compile to make sure everything's working OK

Installation instructions
-------------------------

1.	Once you've downloaded all the files above, create a directory called PilotADE.
2.	Then unzip PilotADE.zip and PilotADEHelp.zip into this directory. It is important that PilotADE.exe, PilotADE.ini, PilotADE.cnt and PilotADE.hlp sit in the same directory.
3.	Create a sub-directory called Samples, and unzip the Samples.zip into it, with the Use Folder Names option in WinZip selected. This should automatically ensure that the correct files are located together in their own sub-directories. Don't put them all into one directory, otherwise PilotADE is going to have a cow trying to compile them.
4.	Then, unzip the System.zip file into your Windows\System directory. If you don't put them there, you're going to have major problems trying to get PilotADE to work.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE THESE VERSIONS OF THE OCX'S AND NOT OTHERS ON YOUR SYSTEM. THIS HAS BEEN CAUSING THE PROGRAM NOT TO WORK PROPERLY ON OTHER PEOPLES MACHINES.
(Please don't blame me for this .... you'd think they'd be backward compatible, but they aren't.)

OK now that you've unzipped the files and they are all sitting in the correct directories, you can try and run the program, PilotADE.exe. If all goes well you're in business, and you should now setup your File Locations so that PilotADE knows where to find the applications it is to use to compile your projects.
If not, and you find that PilotADE doesn't run, then you are missing some important files. Now to be honest, I'm not quite sure what files you'll need. I think that you'll need the following ...

The first is VB40032.dll. This is an essential file for all Visual Basic programs. You can get that from either magazine cover disks, which saves you the hassle of downloading it, or you can grab it from many sites out there on the net.

The second file you may also need is System2.zip, which contains mfc40.dll, msvcrt20.dll, msvcrt40.dll and ven2232.olb. These files should also be unzipped into your Windows\System directory. System2.zip is located on my PilotADE download page.

If after all that, you still can't get PilotADE to work, then E-mail me, as I'll have to put my thinking cap on again. I just remembered something I haven't got NT4 on my machine, so I've no idea how compatible PilotADE is with NT operating systems. If anyone out there does, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if it works. Thanks!
Hopefully you're up and running. Don't worry if you're not ... that's the point about beta testing software!!! Just one more problem for me to fix.
It is important also that if you're going to use GCC or the ASDK, that they are correctly installed with their appropriate directory structures.

This information is repeated in the PilotADE.hlp file, and you might want to refer to that as it's much easier on the eyes!
Once you're up and running, please do read the help file!

Have fun with this program - I hope it helps in developing applications.
Any bugs, please E-mail them to me if they are not on the Known Bugs and Wish List page.
