Unlike the built-in MemoPad, BrainForest's To Do Branch/Leaf displays a Due Date, which can Repeat at a certain frequency until the End Date criteria is met. A To Do Branch/Leaf also has a Done checkbox. To set or modify the Details for a Branch or Leaf: 1. Tap the appropriate Branch or Leaf. 2. Tap the Details button, or choose the Details command from the Tree menu (see previous illustration). The Details dialog appears. Options for all Branches and Leaves may now be set. The other options within the Details dialog, let you get into the fine points of any action item, checklist item, or idea you might have. Priorities may be established, a Start Date and a Due Date can be set for any item in a Tree. A To Do Branch/Leaf contains a Done check box and the ability to be repeated. Additionally, you can add and edit Notes for every item within the Details dialog (see Adding Notes). BrainForest is flexible. Options can be changed whenever necessary. Note: To set a Due Date, a Start Date must be set first. Whether a Branch/Leaf is a Memo or a To Do, it can be changed via the Type setting (see Changing Branch and Leaf Type). Setting Priority Levels To set the Priority level: 1. Tap the level desired. A Priority of 1 is more important than a Priority of 5. Alternately, Priorities may also be set via the Priority pick list. Priorities must be showing, before the Priority pick list can be used, see Display Preferences. 1. Tap the current Priority, and the Priority pick list appears: 2. Choose the desired Priority level and release the stylus. Priorities for all Branches and Leaves may be sorted, see Arranging. Start Date and Due Date The Start Date and Due Date for both Branch/Leaf To Do's and Branch/Leaf Memos are set via a pick list. To set Start and Due Dates: 1. Tap to the right of the Start Date, and the Date pick list appears: 2. Tap the desired date. If you choose Choose Date, the Select Date appears: 3. Tap the appropriate month, day and year, and it will appear in the Details dialog. After a Start Date is chosen, the Due Date appears, set initially to the same day as the Start Date. In addition, if the Branch/Leaf is a To Do, a Repeat option appears. 4. Set the Due date by tapping on the due date displayed. The Due Date pick list appears. 5. Tap the desired date. Repeating To Dos Not every task in our lives has occurs at a specific time. BrainForest's Repeating To Do provides a powerful tool with managing repetitive tasks. For example, a To Do Branch/Leaf can be set to automatically regenerate a new Due Date after a specified time. An End Date can be set for any repeating item. Note that an End Date is not the same as a Due Date. End Dates are only for Repeating To Do items, while a Due Date can exist for any BrainForest Branch/Leaf. For example, if you have a weekly staff meeting, and go on vacation, set the End Date to be the first day of your holiday. When you return, instruct BrainForest that there is no End Date. The end result is that items can always be kept in a BrainForest Tree, and have BrainForest (and you) not consider them complete. To set a Repeat frequency: 1. Tap on "None". The Change Repeat Date dialog appears: The Repeat interval may be set to Day, Week, Month, or Year. For example, tap Day and the following appears: 2. Use Graffiti to set the number of days desired. 3. If you want the repeat to continue, tap End Date, and the End Repeat Date pick list appears: 4. If you choose Choose Date, the Select Date dialog (see above) appears. Select the End Date desired. The message in the dialog changes depending on your choice. For example,
the following indicates Repeat every 2 days: If you tap Week, the following appears: 5. Tap the day(s) of the week desired. Tap again to not include an accidentally selected day. If you tap Month, the following appears: 6. Tap Repeat by Day or Date. Depending on today's date, the Repeat Day should repeat that day. For example if today is Friday, the 14th of the Month, (the month's 2nd Friday), then Repeat by Date will repeat accordingly. If you tap Month, the following appears: Note: If do not want a repeating To Do, tap the Cancel button at anytime.
When the Repeat frequency is set: 7. Tap the OK button to return to the Details dialog. Following is an example of how a Repeated Detail might look. Priority Level is 2, Type is a To Do, it has not been completed, it is to be repeated every Week, from October 15, 1997 until August 1, 1999.
When you have finished setting all Detail parameters: Tap the OK button.
Once a Due Date is set the Date appears as part of the Branch or Leaf. An underlined date indicates a Repeated To Do. |
