This is a TI-85 implementation of Hangman. It comes with two dictionaries. By Shadow Software, shdwsoftwr@aol.com. Hangman Documentation Welcome to the Hangman version 1.1.1 for the TI-85 calculator. Copyright 1994 Shadow Software. Programmed by Brent Deverman . Thanks to Neal Fox and Andy Dowser for being beta testers. Are you bored in math class? Did you just get a TI-85 and wonder what else it can do besides math? Well, here is a game to pass the t ime. Installation To install Hangman you need to transfer the HANGMAN program and the HANGINST program on to your 85. After you have transferred those two programs, run the HANGINST program. Press Cont (F1). Next you will be asked what dictionary you want to use. Press F1 for the computer terms dictionary. Press F2 for the mixed words dictionary. The hangman dictionary will be set up. It comes with about 45 pre-installed words but you can add your own. Now at the next screen press enter. If you like you may now delete the HANGINST program to save some memory. If you plan to pass hangman on to somebody you should keep it and transfer it to them. Play To play hangman run the HANGMAN program. Press Play (F1). You will be notified that the calculator is choosing a word. This might take awhile if you have many words stored in the dictionary. You are then shown a screen that asks you for a letter. In the middle of the screen is where the word is revealed as you guess correctly. At the bottom is where all the letters that have been used are shown. At the top is where you type the letter you want to guess or the word or phrase if you think you know what it is. Type a space (" ") to quit the current game and go back to the main menu. If you type a letter that is in the word or phrase it will show up in its position in the middle of the screen. It will also show up at the bottom of the screen where the used letters are shown. When you enter a letter that is not in the word or phrase a part of a man will be drawn. When the man's mouth is drawn, you lose. You have about eight chances. Also if you type in a letter that is already used the man will be drawn. When you think you know what the word or phrase is type the whole word or phrase including all punctuation shown. If you type the wrong word or phrase, another part of the man will be drawn. Note: Hangman is case sensitive so you should type in all capital let ters because that is how the initial words are stored. Adding to the Dictionary If you want to put a word into your dictionary, on the main menu choose Add (F2). You will be asked to type the word or phrase. You should use all capitals because Hangman is case sensitive. You are limited to twenty-one character words or phrases. After you have typed the word or phrase and have pressed enter, you will be asked if you are sure you want to add the word or phrase because once something is in the dictionary i t cannot be delete by itself. Clearing the Dictionary To clear the dictionary just press Clear (F3) at the main menu. You will be asked if you are sure you want to clear it. If you do clear it you will lose all the words stored. You can use the installer to reinstall the 45 words that came with Han gman though. Disclaimer This software is given as is.
