The deflection coil from the neck of the CRT in an old TV set makes a dandy (roughly) toroidal coil form for the purpose. It is large enough to wrap several turns of coax through. (Remove the deflection coil winding first!) And of course, the ferrite loopstick antenna from an old AM broadcast radio can serve a similar function. Modifying a type-accepted CB voids type acceptance - it's a new type, but hasn't been accepted by the FCC. Ah, what the heck, this is .misc, after all ! The trick here is to adjust the equipment without voiding the type acceptance. The only way the FCC allows this is via special annointing. Whether or not the annointing is called "2nd Class Radiotelephone" is a red herring. Adjustment takes special skill. Therefore there must be a test and certificate to prove the individual has that skill. >What the Amateur license gives us is the right to put things on the air >without type acceptance or certification. Yes. Hams are the rocket scientists of radio. I have the ashes to prove it. :-o >Marc Kaufman (kaufman@Neon.stanford.edu) Perry Scott / KF0CA ------------------------------ Date: 9 Apr 91 01:53:08 GMT From: wang!tosspot!lee@uunet.uu.net Subject: WEFAX APT Frequencies needed! To: info-hams@ucsd.edu Hi. I'm looking for the APT frequencies for the following satellites: Meteor 2-16 Meteor 2-17 Meteor 2-18 Meteor 2-19 Meteor 2-20 Meteor 3-2 Meteor 3-3 Fen Yung 2-3 Any of the Cosmos series Anyone have them? I'm planning on using the R-7000 and the M-1000 decoder to see what I can get. I already have the NOAA 9-11 stuff, but I'd like to explore any other of the 137MHz WEFAX birds. Thanks in advance for any info, if possible please email me direct. Lee G8LCK ------------------------------ End of Info-Hams Digest ******************************
