Tnx >es 73, >Lou, K2ANC I have a few "gripes", the biggest one is that you effectively have TWO rigs in one package and they BOTH tend to "talk" at once. A selective mute would be very nice. :-) The other is that there is no way to shut of commercial band xmit capability if you enable the extended freq. range capability. I really don't like calling someone on 2M and reealizing I was calling on the UHF Higfhway patrol freq.! Oh yes, the manual is awfull. THe new one that is on the net here is MUCH better and presumably will soon be the "official one". The rig gives you a number of capabilities not available anywhere else, the ability to use it as a "range extender" from your handheld for example. Controlling the rig via a TT pad! I like the remote head capability as well. It sure eases a mobile installation! If you can find a transducer that is reasonably efficient at this frequency, you can build a matching network to drive it with your TS430. You should limit the power level to no more than 110 db SPL to stay within OSHA regulations. Levels higher than this could indeed be damaging to living organisms.
