To: info-hams@ucsd.edu oIn my official "1991 Ham Photo Calendar with Contest and DX Reference", there is a contest listed for March 16th as: "County 10 PH 1200Z (36)" Which I would translate as some kind of 10 meter county hunters phone contest starting at 1200Z and lasting 36 hours. However, I cannot find a reference to this contest in any of the major ham radio magazines (QST, CQ, 73, Radio Scan). Before I run out to Delaware this weekend, does anyone know if this contest is really happening? This frequency band is better known as the GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service). Who can get a license: Any individual can get a license. How : Just fill out the FCC form 574 and send it in with $30 The form is somewhat of a pain to fill out (i.e. very specific). The frequencies are given out in pairs so that a repeater can be used. The maximum power output is 50 watts and you are technically allowed only one frequency pair. ------------------------------ Date: 19 Mar 91 18:17:40 GMT From: uakari.primate.wisc.edu!zaphod.mps.ohio-state.edu!usc!gate.oxy.edu!oxy.edu!d_reeves@ames.arpa Subject: Alinco 590 To: info-hams@ucsd.edu In article <00945CDF.71F7BA60@MAPLE.CIRCA.UFL.EDU> aleg8r@oak.circa.ufl.edu writes: >I need all the info that you guys can give me on the Alinco DR-590T >I am planning on buying a dual (TWIN) Bander, and this seems to be the >.
