What you will hear, is the pilots talking to their operations center located somewhere in the country. For example, a Pilot from Delta Airlines speaking to his ops. center in Atlanta, Ga. Remember that an aircraft is like a giant antenna. It,s not uncommon to hear an aircraft 15 miles out of Kennedy Airport in New York speaking to Atlanta. However, you probably won't hear the other end of the conversation. The type of conversations that you will hear are such things as flight plans, estimated time of arrival at destination, changes in flight plans, fuel on board, special needs for passengers (wheelchairs needed etc... ) at the gate, repairs or cleanup needed etc....
