The following are the @BBS designators that are currently in use here in the Pacific Northwest, these may be different for your part of the network, questions should be directed towards your LOCAL SYSOP of the BBS from which you are reading this bulletin from. ALLBBS National ALLUSA National AMSAT National ALLUSW West Coast only. WAGB Washington State ONLY WWGB Western Washington State including some BBS's in OR, and Canada. EWGB This is the designator for Eastern Washington, ONLY ORGB Oregon State ONLY IDAHO This is the designator for Idaho ONLY (Like WAGB is) MTGB This is the designator for Montana ONLY NWGB This is the designator for the entire Pacific Northwest PNW Same distribution as NWGB LAN80 Limited Distribution LAN40 Limited Distribution PUGET Limited distribution for the Puget Sound area NWS This is for the WX report and is very limited. NWTFC Emergency SYSOP type of designator - priority traffic [W0LVJ]. SYSOP type designators ONLY! Not intended for useage by users. MBLBBS National The main designator for 'MBL stuff. MSYS " The main designator for the MSYS BBS. MSYSNW for the N.W. REBBS National This is the designator for AA4RE's information. RLIBBS " This is the designator for 'RLI BBS. If you are sending a bulletin that is greater than roughly 4-5K in file size to your local BBS, then it would be wise to break the file into smaller bulletins so that they may be transfered via HF and the other VHF routes that are difficult to pass mail via; smaller files are easier to send via these types of routes. When sending files that have more than one part, a single file broken into separate files, then it is also important to show the part number within the "Subject" such as; "1/3 Field Day information" then continue with the text of the bulletin as the message. If this is at the beginning, instead of the end of the "Subject" line, then the chances of it getting cut off from exceeding the line length for the "Subject" line are lessened. It is possible it it was formatted with the "1/3" at the end, then all that would be shown in this case would be just the "Field Day information" and might appear as the same bulletin, several times, since the part numbers would not be shown. Additionally; Please, please, send a carriage return before the 80th column of text! This prevents the lines exceeding 80 columns from being chopped off, lines double spacing on other users screens, word wrap, words being fractured when they word wrap, and if someone wishes to save your bulletin to a printed copy, then many printers do not like lines exceeding 80 columns. To paraphrase Tom Clark, W3IWI; Please use the return key !!! One more thing; if you are selling, requesting information, whatever and are looking for a reply from someone via Packet, it is very helpful if the return Packet address is one of the last lines in the text, such as I have at the bottom of this bulletin, showing your callsign and the BBS from which you would look for a reply.
