There were two M1 flares on 27th. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet to active on 24th, and quiet to unsettled for the rest of the week except for a period of active levels 0900-1800 UT on 29th. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were mostly near predicted levels with some depressed periods of up to 25 per cent from 24th-26th September. On 27th-28th the field was depressed by up to 30 per cent during daylight hours. Conditions on 29th saw depressions of up to 35 per cent during local night, and on 30th the field was mostly depressed by up to 50 per cent. Spread F was observed on 29th-30th September. Forecast for the next week (01 - 07 October) Solar : Low to moderate. Geomagnetic: Quiet to unsettled. Ionospheric: Near predicted to 20 per cent depressed. Possibility of night time Spread F degrading F layer communications, and fadeouts on daylight circuits affecting lower frequencies.
