DataBot HINTS
-------------

My e-mail address: datafox@gewi.kfunigraz.ac.at
My IRC nickname: DataFox
Mail me (or talk to me if you find me) if you want me to put you on my update list...

This file contains some fundamental :) hints. The hints are in no particular order,
so... read 'em all :)
Oh, the first hint contains information about plugin.zip and the so-called chat-mIRC-
side CTCP flood ;)

* I've included a file "plugin.zip" in the databot directory. It's a mIRC script using
pop-up menus to make use of DataBot easier. It's even more... It contains the files
aliases.ini, remote.ini and popups.ini. If you use these, you'll get a script which
allows you to control the bot via pop-up menus. There are even cool multi-commands
without using the bot. Included is a full command listing sorted by levels too for
checking which commands can somebody use... But please note that this is not a complete
script like BlackOut or something. Of course you can combine these without much
effort. PlugIn also supports the chat-mIRC-side CTCP flood. But success is still not
guaranteed :) To find out how to use PlugIn, unzip the 3 files to your mIRC dir
(you may want to save copies of your original inis if there's something special
there) and start mIRC as usual. Then, right-click in any window and click on the
about item. The text scrolling up is the "manual" ;)
* You should always share at least one channel with your bot. So, after connecting and
logging in, use the @join command to make the bot join a new channel (in my case it's
the channel #DataFox), then join it yourself (or the other way round). Stay in this
channel all the time you're on IRC. The reason for this is that both of you can
detect nick changes, quits etc. If you find that always some annoying people are
coming into your channel, make it invite only and secret (command @lock).
* You should take a look at datacfg.ini. It contains everything you can customize
including a description. Change at least the password! Oh, for most options there's
a on-line bot command. Except for @offerdir every change is saved into datacfg.ini
* The bot has a CTCP DO command. This allows you to perform a command from remote.
The syntax is: "/ctcp yourbotsnick do /command". For example, to make the bot say
"Hi" in #DataFox, you'll use: "/ctcp yourbotsnick do /msg #datafox Hi!". The command
  works only at boss level.
* The file fserve.txt in the databot dir contains the welcome message for the file
  server.
* Please put the original zip file into your offer directory.

Well, that's all... for now!
