The following typical sreen is displayed: PUSH 1-8 TO CHANGE KEY SELECTED: AUTO 1 NEED KEY: 27A5 AUTO1:28A5 5:0000 AUTO2:27A5 6:0000 3:38A1 7:0000 4:0000 8:0000 PUSH VIEW TO EXIT When first pushed, the two Auto-Update "Wizzard" keys are calculated (this month and either last month or next month, depending if the data stream has sent next month's keys yet). The keys are stored and the current key being used by the station is selected automatically. Note that near changeover time, not all stations use the same key. the "NEED KEY:" line shows the key I.D. or I.D.'s currently being used by the station tuned in. Following are the I.D.'s (last two digits) of the two Auto-Update keys and the 6 manually entered Wizzard keys. Any of the 8 keys may be selected by pushing 1 - 8 with the selected key shown on line 2, flashing. If known, manually entered keys (not auto-updating) can be entered using "SETUP 1-3" described below, allowing operation with stations not using A5 codes. THe Key selected on exit ("VIEW" or "SETUP") will remain selected. "SETUP" BUTTON: Pushing "SETUP" will cause the following menu to display and the selected functions are described below: 0: DIAGNOSTICS 1: INSTALLATION 2: AUDIO / GRAPHICS 3: CHANGE RATING 4: RATING PASSWORD 5: CHANGE MEMORY 6: DISPLAY MEMORY 7: TURN OFF DECODER ( ENTER 0 - 7 ) ("SETUP" Button Continued) SETUP 0: DIAGNOSTICS The following are of general interest. The top line shows the currently selected Wizzard key being used for audio decoding. The 1st 4 digits of the 2nd line count the number of Auto-Updates received in the data stream. The 2nd 2 digits on the bottom line show the error rate of the audio key decodes. Anything less than 20 will give sound (Perhaps with noise if over 8 or so). The next two letters tell the station status: FA Open key. Will work with any Videocipher. SA Subscription service, authorized. SB Subscription service, blocked. SM Subscription service, not authorized. SETUP 1: INSTALLATION The following selection menu is displayed: INSTALLATION: CODE DISPLAYS: 1: AUTO WIZZARD 2: ALL WIZZARD 3: AUTO DATE KEYS CODE ENTRY (CAUTION) 4: MANUAL WIZZARD 5: AUTO UPDATE KEYS 1: DISPLAY AUTO UP-DATE WIZZARD CODES. The two Auto Update Wizzard codes are shown in easily read format. A flashing arrow points to the code being used for the month. The top key or code (AUTO 1) was calculated using the station enable codes and monthly date codes from 6107-611A in RAM, while AUTO 2 was calculated using data at 616A-617D. Note that these codes can be converted to the long enter format some chips use by putting a "0" before 0-9's and "9"+(1-6) for A-F's (I.E. 5A = 05 91). 2: DISPLAY ALL WIZZARD CODES. All the Wizzard codes, both the two auto update codes and the 6 manually entered codes are shown on the screen. The number flashing shows the currently selected code (the code selected when "HELP" was exited last time). 3: DISPLAY AUTO DATE KEYS. The 2 station enable masks and date codes that have been sent in the data stream and stored at 6107-611A (used by AUTO 1) and at 616A-617D (used by AUTO 2) are displayed. A flashing arrow points to the code presently in use. ("SETUP" Button - "1" Installation continued) 4: ENTER MANUAL WIZZARD CODES. This selection will cause the following screen to display: WIZZARD KEY ENTER SELECT 3-8 TO CHANGE NEED KEY: 27A5 AUTO1:28A5 5:0000 AUTO2:27A5 6:0000 3:38A1 7:0000 4:0000 8:0000 PUSH VIEW TO EXIT Push 3 - 8 to select which key to replace. The "NEED KEY" number shown is the key I.D. or I.D.'s currently being used by the station tuned in (the last two digits of any entered code). After selection of 3 - 8, the following screen appears: WIZZARD KEY3 ENTRY. (-->) MAKES 1-6 ^ A-F (<--) CANCELS ENTRIES **** **** **** **** ** PUSH VIEW TO EXIT The top line shows the key number being replaced. Entries will rerlace the *'s as they are entered. Pushing the right-arrow will put an up-arrow on the screen and then a 1-6 entry will replace it with an A-F. Pushing the back- arrow will replace an up-arrow if one exists or erase the entry replacing it with a *. After the last number is entered, the next to last line will change to: ** CAUTION ** 'ENTER' At this point, pushing "ENTER" will replace any prior entry at the number flashing on the top line. Pushing the back- arrow will still back up the display, allowing corrections. The 'ENTER' on the next to last line will disappear. ("SETUP" Button - "1" Installation continued) 5: ENTER AUTO UP-DATE CODES. This selection will cause the following screen to display: **CAUTION** AUTO UP-DATE KEY ENTRY. 0: SKIP TO DATE KEYS 1: RAW SEED KEYS 2: ENCODED SEED KEYS PUSH VIEW TO EXIT 0: SKIP TO DATE KEYS. Selection of "0" will skip to the entry of date keys used by the Auto-Update function. This would normally be done if the serial number and seed keys are good but the box had not updated normally (I.E. it was off for a month). Either of the other selections will then automatically advance to the date key entry, and entry is covered below. 1: RAW SEED KEY ENTRY. This selection will cause the following display: (-->) MAKES 1-6 ^ A-F (<--) CANCELS ENTRIES S/N, 28 SEED KEYS. **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **CAUTION** PUSH VIEW TO EXIT The serial number and 28 seed keys (4 sets of 7) are now entered in the open (raw) form. See Wizzard Key entry above (SETUP 1 - 4) for entering details. After pushing "ENTER", the raw keys are encoded and stored in RAM at 6700-671F. The entry then progresses to Date Key below. ("SETUP" Button - "1" Installation - "5" ENTER AUTO UP-DATE KEYS continued) 2: ENCODED SEED KEY ENTRY. This selection will cause the following display: (-->) MAKES 1-6 ^ A-F (<--) CANCELS ENTRIES ENTER 32 CODED KEYS. **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **CAUTION** PUSH VIEW TO EXIT Entry of the encoded serial number and seed keys (RAM 6700-671F from an operating box) is now done (see Wizzard key entry above for entering details). The entry then progresses to the Date key entry below. AUTO DATE KEY ENTRY (From 0, 1 or 2 above) The screen will now change to: (-->) MAKES 1-6 ^ A-F (<--) CANCELS ENTRIES ENTER 20 DATE KEYS. (6107-1A)OR(616A-7D) **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **CAUTION** PUSH VIEW TO EXIT Entry of the current month date keys should now be done. These keys can be read in an operating unit using "SETUP 1 (INSTALLATION) 3 (AUTO DATE KEYS). See Wizzard key entry above for entry details. After "ENTER" is pushed, the entered date enable mask and date keys are stored at both of the Auto Up-Date Ram locations. Thus, until a data stream update is made, both AUTO UP-DATE keys will be the same. The program will now automatically execute as if power were just turned on. ("SETUP" BUTTON continued) SETUP 2: AUDIO / GRAPHICS This selection will cause a typical screen display of: AUDIO MODE IS PRIMARY ( PRESS '1' FOR ) ( ALTERNATE ) AUDIO ON GRAPHICS IS ENABLED ( PRESS '2' TO ) DISABLE Entering "1" will alternate the audio mode (the same as a stock box). Entering "2" will alternate the audio-on graphics (the operation of the growing "G. I. BUSTER" message every time the audio decode keys are recomputed). SETUP 3: CHANGE RATING (MOVIE PROGRAM RATING) SETUP 4: RATING PASSWORD (MOVIE RATING PASSWORD) These setup selections work exactly as a stock videocipher box. Note that an "ENTER" with no password entered in 4 will clear any password (as long as any prior password was known to get to change it). Then the rating ceiling in 3 can be changed without entering any password. SETUP 5: CHANGE MEMORY This selection will cause a screen display of: **** ENTER START ADR. (-->) MAKES 1-6 ^ A-F (<--) CANCELS ENTRIES ** CHANGE MEMORY ** REG.: (0000-007F) (Means U19 Registers) RAM : (6000-67FF) (MEANS U30 RAM) **CAUTION** PUSH VIEW TO EXIT ("SETUP" 5 CHANGE MEMORY Continued) The program will not allow address entry outside the range shown. If it is attempted, the screen will blank white except for two lines showing the allowed address range, then restore to the above menu. After entry of the address to be changed (see Wizzard entry above for entry details), the display will change to: ** CHANGE MEMORY ** REG.: (0000-007F) RAM : (6000-67FF) xxxx **CAUTION** BBBB BBBB BBBB BBBB XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX AAAA AAAA AAAA AAAA CAN : ENTER NEW ADR VIEW: QUIT The xxxx on the 4th line shows the address to be changed next. The location to be changed will be flashing on the XXXX line. The line above (BBBB) shows the prior 8 location's data. The line below (AAAA) shows the next 8 location's data. "ENTER" will advance the nibble to be changed to the right. Back-arrow will shift the nibble to be changed to the left. "0-9" will change nibble to 0-9 unless right-arrow was entered prior (up-arrow shows). Then it will cause entry of A-F. When the location being changed gets before or after the XXXX line, the before - after data will update and keep the data to be changed always on the XXXX line. The line 4 address always updates to the address being changed. The data shown is being constantly updated. If the Videocipher program is writing to a location, the data may change right back after it is changed. "CANCEL" will cause the SETUP 5 screen to reappear, allowing a new address entry. "VIEW" or any other function button will terminate the program and do the pushed function. SETUP 6: DISPLAY MEMORY This selection will cause a screen display of: **** ENTER START ADR. (-->) MAKES 1-6 ^ A-F (<--) CANCELS ENTRIES AFTER DISPLAY: (-->) STEP UP 40 (<--) STEP DOWN 40 CAN : ENTER NEW ADR VIEW: QUIT (SETUP 6: DISPLAY MEMORY Continued) After entry of the starting address of the data display area (see Wizzard entry above for entry details), the display will change to: SSSS EEEE DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD DDDD SSSS is the starting address of 40 Hex data DDDD and EEEE is ending address. The data is constantly being updated. The right-arrow will step up the data address 40 Hex. The left-arrow will step down the data address 40 Hex. "CANCEL" will cause the SETUP 6 screen to reappear, allowing a new starting address entry. "VIEW" or any other function button will terminate the program and do the pushed function. SETUP 7: TURN OFF DECODER Selecting this function will cause the screen to display: DESCRAMBLER WILL BE LOCKED OFF. After a few seconds, the message will disappear and the V.C. light will go off. On most IRD's, changing the channel will restore operation. On some, pushing view or cycling power may be necessary. This function is useful to receive the station's normal subcarrier audio signal. "VIEW" BUTTON Display current program name and time left. "NEXT PROGRAM" BUTTON: Display next program name and time left. "TEXT" BUTTON: Display any text sent. "MESSAGE" BUTTON: Display any messages sent. All of the above operate as a stock Videocipher does EXCEPT: "MESSAGE" Button will cause an approximate 15 Second graphics display. -------- TRY IT ---------. ** C Downloaded From P-80 International Information Systems 304-744-2253
