TRUE color provides higher performance but uses more graphic memory. ** Note: Not all color depths are supported at all refresh rates. **************************** 2.0 Installation Notes for Windows NT This driver package containing: - ATI.SYS (ATI Graphics miniport driver) - ATI.DLL (ATI Graphics display driver) - OEMSETUP.INF (setup files used by Windows NT Setup program) - TXTSETUP.OEM - ATI_VID - SSDPMS.SCR (DPMS driver) - This README file Windows NT drivers are included on Disk #2 of this package. They are located in the \NT sub-directory. Procedure: 1. Run the Windows NT Setup program located in the Program Manager, Main group. 2. Select Change System settings, from the Options pulldown menu. 3. Select Other, from the display options. 4. NT will prompt you for the correct path, enter A:\NT, where A: is the drive containing the mach64 Disk #2. 5. A list of all Graphics Accelerator drivers will appears, select the resolution and color depth desired. 6. Restart Windows NT. Windows NT will start up using the mach64 drivers. Note: If you select a color depth or resolution, not supported by your card, NT will substitute 640x480, 256 color for the display. 2.1 Uninstalling the Windows NT drivers How to uninstall the mach64 Windows Device Driver. There are TWO ways to do this without re-installing Windows NT. ONE method is: CD \winnt\system32\drivers ren ATI.sys ATI.ati Windows NT looks for ATI.SYS drivers at boot time, if it cannot find it, it cannot use it. SECOND method is: While running Windows NT, execute the Win NT Setup program. Select a NON mach64 driver (try VGA compatible) ***************************** 3.0 DPMS Support VESA DPMS-compliant monitors conserve electrical energy by powering down during periods of inactivity when the DPMS feature is enabled. Auto-shutdown occurs after a defined period of keyboard and mouse inactivity. There are three stages for reduced power consumption: Standby, Suspend and Off. The amount of power that is saved at each stage is determined by the manufacturer of the monitor. WARNING Monitors that do not support VESA DPMS can be damaged by activation of the DPMS feature. To enable DPMS support for NT 3.1: 1) Double click on the NT Desktop icon 2) Select the SCREEN SAVERS option 3) Select DPMS from the list of available SCREEN SAVERS 4) Click on the SETUP button, to configure DPMS stand by mode. 5) When DPMS stand by is enabled, you can then configure SUSPEND and OFF time in minutes Note: The STANDBY time intervolt is determined by the DELAY time set for the SCREEN SAVER function. ***************************** 4.0 Known Problems This driver does not currently support 1280x1024 on ISA mach64 product. This driver does not currently support 24 bpp at resolutions greater than 640x480 on ISA mach64 product. Some applications do not handle 24bpp and 32bpp properly resulting in the colors not looking right. What to do if ACCELERATOR not found message appears: Is there another adapter card in the system that CONFLICTS with I/O locations in the 350-35F hex range? Relocate the I/O to 300 to 31F range. Attempting to run the mach64 Install program under NT will report "Mach64 Adapter not detected.". The install program must be run from DOS. 1280x1024 is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations 24 BPP is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations at resolutions greater than 640x480. ***************************** 5.0 Reporting Problems If you experience any difficulties, open the file REPORT.TXT and complete the Problem Report form.
