At Scrambling News we are interested in many subjects. Here are some other good online sources of information and suppliers of reputable products.
Digital Satellite Facts
This written by the editor of Signal Magazine. The focus is on Canadian DBS services but much of what impacts on Canada originates in the U.S so it is of interest here also. In the latest issue, DSF discusses the DSS pirate smartcards now being distributed in Canada.
Many months ago the hackers discovered they could clone the ID of one DSS box into another. Scrambling News made the announcement through our magazine, American Hacker. The problem was in obtaining smartcards to program. This problem has been overcome.

Hack Watch News
John Mc Cormac is the author of the European Scrambling Systems series. Just as some of our cable scrambling systems are migrating to Europe, we have received the Videocrypt system used in DSS and the Eurocrypt system from them. Some of the columns from his newsletter are posted on his web site. His Special Projects BBS is an important offshore source of Videocrypt and other files which may be illegal in some countries.

At some point there will likely be a swapout of the DSS cards we have now. One
company produces the algorithms for both the European and U.S. cards. The next
card we see in the U.S. may be based on the 0A card which has just been
released in Europe. It has not been hacked yet. When and if it is, the software
will probably appear here. There are links to other sites, and news bulletins. There
are also schematics for reader/writer hardware, emulators, etc. which will be of
some interest to those studying the DSS system.
