Nikkei Electronics 1993.3.1(no.575, pp.121-125) has reported on Matsushita's
"relaxation system" using original head mounted displays.
A VR expert told me that the system has been developped by the Mr.Nomura's team
that also developped the VR kitchen show room system of Matsushita Electric
Works. That relaxation system itsel is not a typical VR system because it
uses only ordinary video-tape-recorded scene(on/off), music(volume), and
massage machine(on/off). However, it controls these items with detected
alpha wave signal of user's brain. So, the developper told it as a VR
application system.

The system is reported to be sold as a consumer product in December of this
year.

Detail HMD specifications have not been reported, though HMD's appearance
was shown.

On the same issue of Nikkei Electronics pp.127-133, you can also find an
article on 3DO's player system. The article reported that Matsushita Electric
Industry(Panasonic) will sell the system after this autumn, and the system
can be connected to the stereo glasses(controled with LCD shutters). The test
product of the glasses was reportedly displayed on the Winter CES of last
January.
