Personally think this would be a very bad thing.

As part of my degree I have recently been studying two issues, firstly the
effect Video Games have on our society now and secondly what effects we can
expect from VR in the future. The book "Virtual Reality" by Howard Rheingold
has been incredibly useful and in it he explains why he started this news
group off - to provide a forum where people can discuss Virtual Reality and
exchange information.

The recent discussions on topics like "Will VR ever be like reality" and
"Dreams & VR" have been fairly relevant to the topics I am looking at and I
have found it very interesting to read other people's educated opinions.

This kind of discussion will not work in an email format as that necessitates
participation and therefore rules out people like myself who are very
interested to read but not so willing to post.

If people are not interested in non-techno threads then it doesn't take much
effort to kill them. I personally have to kill many of the techno threads
because I just don't have time to read them as well as the philosopical ones.

Just my two-pennorth but I felt I should post because the threads under threat
are important to me.
