He put his =patents= up as collateral against the French company's loans. There should be a law against that. You shouldn't be able to put up your intellectual property as collateral (maybe the proceeds from such but not the actual patents and copyrights themselves!). I just hope Jaron paid himself a good whopping executive's salary the last year he ran VPL. He's a goofy guy and probably shouldn't try to run another company but he also created an industry with his vision and nearly made it a practical reality with his inventions. I suggest everyone track down and read this article in BusinessWeek. Fabled cautionary tale about how business and vision collide (all too often!).
