There was a short piece on using VR for remote surgery in the UK newspaper The Independent on Weds 27 January 1993. The system allows doctors to "track surgical equipment, such as endoscopes, inside the body in three dimension". An early system is being trialed at Ipswich hospital (contact Dr Dr Duncan Bell) and was produced in conjunction with Sheffield University and British Telecom Research Labs at Martlesham. I only have a photocopy of the piece, but it looks like it was on the front page. Maybe you can get it (eventually) through your local university/college library? I think it's kind of interesting the way things get to be. The way the people work with their machines. **************************************************************************
