From: jew5001@venus.tamu.edu (WILLIAMSON, JOHN EDWARD) Subject: TECH: Covox VoiceMaser II (Voice Control/Recognition for REND386) Date: 3 Feb 1993 10:18 CST Organization: Texas A&M University, Academic Computing Services I missed the initial question about voice recognition, so I may be off base. I have successfully used the affordable Covox VoiceMaster II to add voice recognition to REND386. Now instead of using the keyboard or joystick to manuver (which can be very awkward with the glove on), I simply tell the computer where to go or where to turn. "Left Turn", "Go Forward", etc. No programming is needed, as TSR has a fairly straight forward interface. I believe that through proper nesting 1024 seperate commands can be recognized. The recognition rate is about 85% and any keyboard command can be converted into a voice activated macro. I have used it successfully with WordPerfect, EDIT, and a few games. A more in depth article is slated for inclusion in _PCVR_ later this year.
