From: "(Marcelo Diamand)" Subject: TECH: Holographic game? Date: Thu, 24 Sep 1992 11:41:18 EST I have seen some people asking about the game "HOLOGRAM" by SEGA, if it is really holographic, etc... This question corresponds to a great worldwide discussion, and the answer is NO! The name "hologram" was uncorrectly applied. Why? The game uses curve-mirror, and a CD-Video system. The video image is projected in one of the focus of the mirror, and this FLAT image reappears in a second focus point, located at the user's sight. As you can see, this is not holographic or even stereoscopic! You don't have parallax, and you don't have stereopsis. You only have a FLAT image floating, using an old optical trick. To improve the final visual result, there are some shiny objects in the scene, but try to touch it... They are really there, and not their image! Of course this is an original and funny game, but the truth must be said! Best Regards, Marcelo Diamand
