It first came on the scene as "Gee did you get this great new book on VR... complete with software?" I thought, and I'm sure that I'm not alone, that hey, here was something that I might be really interested in, only to find it was just another go-kart track (paralleling your analogy). It was disappointing. The way it should have been represented in the first place is "hey, here is a VR book for novices (not people here of course) that might bring VR to the desktops of the masses, check it out and recommend it to your friends and family..." This way, it would have been clear, VRP is not a book for people participating here, but rather for "others." Here, on Compuserve in the VR forum, I can download many of the demos on the VRP disk. I can see why the authors of these demos would not complain, that is free advertising and I suppose there is nothing really wrong with that. I hope this shines some light on why VRP hasn't been received well here. It's not a product for people already into VR and that should have been stated up front in this forum. _ddg
