I have recently downloaded these files and unzipped them no problems
with a version of pkunzip that I already had.

A colleague in New Zealand has also downloaded them in the past couple
of days and has used the *supplied* UNZIP42 to unzip them no problems.

So ... the files are OK; there must be something in your procedure
that is (one way or another) greeking them. If you are not using a
DOS-command-line ftp program, what terminal program are you using, and
what file transfer protocol, to get them onto your PC? Such programs
often ``translate'' the character set and bugger up binary files.

If these questions do not apply, then (if possible) ``capture'' a
session in which you attempt to ftp and unzip the files (i.e. get a
screen snapshot or log file; or, if not possible on your system, copy
down by hand each step and the machine's responses). From that we
might get a better feel for which program is responsible for eating
your binary files.

Hope this is of help,

John
