Depending on the focal distance of the lenses, you may be able to focus your
eye on the screen, but not able to converge the images.  If the screens and
focal distance aren't sufficient, it won't work.  You might try increasing the
distance from screen to lens.  Without sophisticated optics, it's about the
only way.  As far as stereoscopic effect, try incorporating the Sega glasses
into the HMD.  With two screens, driven with the glasses strobe, you'll get
stereoscopy if the Sega glasses are between your eyes and the screen.
