From: thinman@netcom.com (Technically Sweet) Subject: Re: SCI: Object behavior in VR Date: Tue, 13 Oct 92 12:16:44 -0700 I probably won't touch Smalltalk. There are many ways of doing objects and I like the CLOS "generic function" approach better than Smalltalk's. Dylan is a Scheme-like language designed by Apple's Cambridge research group as a small, very compilable, LISP-derived language but with objects "from the ground up". That is, smoothly integrated. The book is free from Apple, write to dylan-comments@cambridge.apple.com; there will be a few commercially available implementations Real Soon Now. Dec Research did a Dylan->Scheme compiler for free, FTP to gatekeeper.dec.com.
