From: barchasd@mentor.cc.purdue.edu (David Barchas) Subject: TECH: Cheap 6D-tracker and HMD? Date: Tue, 29 Sep 1992 20:09:37 GMT Message-ID: Organization: Purdue University Computing Center I have a couple of questions. - What is the cheapest 6D magnetic tracker on the market? How much? And is there software (pc) that is at least capable of tracking the tracker for testing purposes(and hacking)? (brain dysfunction^^^^) Also is it fairly acurate?(1.5-2.0 mm) - Is there any documentation out there on building an interface for a dual screen HMD using NTSC, or code which utilizes dual video cards in a PC. - Actually now that I think about it, Is there any documentation on building a HMD for cheap. I have been tinkering with lenses and a Nintendo Gameboy(tm), and have been able to get the image to wrap around one eye fairly well, but a color sytem would mean more hardware to deal with making it bulky(picky picky). It dawned on me, "why hack it if it has already been hacked." All related info would be nice, cheapest screens available(color prefered,B&W if greater res.) also would be a appreciated. barchasd@mentor.cc.purdue.edu (David Barchas)| "Oops..."
