Dear sci.virtual-worlds Participants,

We are about to inaugurate sci.virtual-worlds.apps, the newsgroup
dedicated to discussions of real and pending applications of virtual
worlds technologies.

We are tweaking the online USENET and local host machinery right now.
We have lined up a half dozen regional commentators and about the same
number of sector specialists, to help focus discussions on s.v-w.apps,
keep them up to date, and ensure their accuracy.  We will be
soliciting others; perhaps you will want to help out.  Stay tuned!

Some of you saw a premature "Welcome" notice appended to a posting by
John Costella.  Sorry, it was Bob's fault!  We hope to post a real
"Welcome" message in about two weeks.  We will fine-tune s.v-w.apps
over the end-of-year holidays and, when you return to work and school
from play and reflection, we should have something really special to
offer to you!

Thanks for your patience.  This is taking awhile to set up because we
want to do it right, right from the start.  Thanks also for your
support and good wishes.
