I was wandering around a couple of book stores in town last weekend in
search of some present-day or near-future based computer sci-fi.

No luck - so much stuff based in the year 2300+ it's incredible, but
nothing based here and now (that I could see).

Can anyone name some authors or sources of technological/computer
science fiction?  Has anyone got any recommendations of specific books
in the area?

Just looking for a little Christmas reading material...!
