From: "DANA GOOCH..MILD MANNERED ACS ASSISTANT" Subject: EDUC: VR at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1992 16:14:27 CST Greetings...my name is Dana Gooch and I'm a student at James Madison University in Harrisonburg,VA. Through an act of God, our school has decided to teach a course in VR next semester (it's through the Mass Communications dept. but it's a start). The only problem is this: the professor knows practically nothing about VR. So, I met with him today and offered him all my research, ( about a year and a half of reading the smallest print known to mankind ) NASA tapes, and info from the listserv. He responds with an offer to assistant teach the class. The entire course will come from the info I provide and whatever the students can find themselves. The question is this: What should we (I) focus on? It's going to be a one semester class of juniors and seniors...I anticipate no more than 15. If this session goes well, JMU may offer it on a regular basis. But, I need to make this interesting, topical, and worth coming to class twice a week for 2 hours each session. Also, _any_ information anyone can send me would greatly be appreciated. Repetition is good..the more the better. If you've taught an introductory class like this before, I'd like to hear your approach..what worked, what didn't. Thanks in advance... Dana A. Gooch acs_dana@vax1.acs.jmu.edu
