From: spring@arbw3.kf.tu-berlin.de (Johannes Springer) Subject: CONF: Work with Display Units, Berlin, Sept 92 Date: Fri, 15 May 1992 12:34:48 GMT Organization: ZRZ/TU-Berlin Third International Scientific Conference WORK WITH DISPLAY UNITS BERLIN, 1 - 4 SEPTEMBER 1992 --------- Aims of the Conference You are cordially invited to participate in the WWDU'92 conference in Berlin on September 1-4, 1992. After Stockholm in 1986 and Montreal in 1989, Berlin will provide a forum for users, designers and manufacturers as well as scientists to present state-of-the-art knowledge on utilization of visual display units. Working With Display Units, a new style of human work which emerged just 20 years ago in offices has become a focus of interest, wherever people process information. Research on WWDU and the formulation of design principles surrounding the subject have both broadened and increased in depth as the use and capacity of computers have extended even into areas formerly thought to be the exclusive domain of the human brain. The positive response of all the disciplines involved must be - to support human abilities to process information by tools and techniques in all areas of human industry, both for experts and for novices; - to reduce health hazards by preventive research and measurements in all areas of information technology; - to endeavour to provide innovative solutions in workplace design and the complex and flexible arrangement of individual workers in new organiza- tional and management concepts. ----------- PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME Stream A: Environmental Impacts Session A1: Sick Building Syndrome Session A2: Radiation, Electrostatic and Electromagnetic Fields Session A3: Skin Problems, "Electric Sensitivity" and VDU Work Session A4: Pregnancy Outcomes and VDU Work Session A5: Electric and Magnetic Sanitation of the Office Session A6: VDT and Lighting I Session A7: VDT and Lighting II Stream B: Psychophysiological Aspects Session B1: Oculumotor Functions: Concepts and Practical Consequences I Session B2: Oculumotor Functions: Concepts and Practical Consequences II Session B3: Oculumotor Functions: Vertical Gaze Direction Session B4: Psychological Effects of Working with VDU Session B5: Psychophysiology in the Workplace Stream C: Input Devices and Workplace Design Session C1: VDT Features and Techniques Session C2: VDT-Filter Session C3: Input Devices Session C4: Colour and Vision I Session C5: Colour and Vision II Session C6: Workplace Design in Office Area Session C7: Workplace Design in Industrial Area Session C8: Video Session Workplace Design Session C9: Work with VDUs for the Handicapped Session C10: Effective Work with VDU Stream D: Fatigue and Health Hazards Session D1: Current Issues on Health Effect on VDU Work: Perspectives and Trends Session D2: MEPS: An International Collaborative Study on Muscuoskeletal Disorders, Eye Strain and Psychological Stress among VDU Workers: Study Design and Preliminary Findings Session D3: Two NIOSH Studies to Visual Fatigue Session D4: Field Studies to Visual Fatigue Session D5: Aspects of Visual Fatigue Session D6: Investigations on Muscular and Neuropsychic Fatigue Session D7: Field Studies to Muscular and Neuropsychic Fatigue Session D8: Strategies for Prevention Session D9: Medical Surveillance I Session D10: Medical Surveillance II Stream E: User Interfaces Session E1: Error and Error Managament Session E2: Dialogue Techniques Session E3: User Interfaces I Session E4: User Interfaces II Session E5: User Interfaces for Process Control Session E6: Usability Evaluation Session E7: Multi-modal Interfaces I Session E8: Multi-modal Interfaces II Session E9: User Involvement in Development Process Session E10: Training and Help Stream F: Workload, Stress and Strain Session F1: Critical Organizational and Job Design Issues in Work with VDT and Stress I Session F2: Critical Organizational and Job Design Issues in Work with VDT and Stress II Session F3: Stress Considerations in Computer Networks Session F4: Health Aspects and Stress Symptoms Session F5: Assessment of Stress and Strain Factors Session F6: Effects of Electronic Performance Monitoring on VDT User Stress Session F10: Longitudinal Studies of Job Design and VDU Work II Stream G: Applications in Office and Industry Session G1: Applications in Miscellaneous Areas Session G2: Expert Systems and DSS in Medical Areas Session G3: Information Ergonomics of Videotex-Systems Session G5: Video & Hypermedia - Demonstrations Session G6: Designing Experts and DSS-Systems Session G9: VDUs in Education Session G10: Computer Aided Design Stream H: Work Analysis, Design and Structuring Session H6: Implementations of Data Systems and Impacts on Job Contents Session H7: Work with VDT within Groups Session H8: Work Organisation Factors of Special Interest to Labour Unions Session H9: Implementations I Session H10: Implementations II Stream I: Strategies for Future WWDU Session I1: Research methods Session I2: Methods Session I3: Kansei Engineering Session I4: Ergonomics of HCI Session I5: Applications of Chaos Science to Organisational Behavior Session I6: Strategies of International Standardisation Session I7: The Context and Consequences of the VDT Health Aspects Session I8: Social Aspects of Homeworking in Rural Areas Session I9: European Regulations for Work with VDT Session I10: National Programmes and Social Context of VDT Use and a lot of Poster-Sessions, and an experiment "Creating Metaphors", and, and, and much more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
