Today the HIT Lab rolls out the developments of the last year for the
members of its Virtual Worlds Consortium to see. New members include
Ford, American Express, and Sharp (so I am told). This is a by-invi-
tation-only meeting, but as the HIT Lab has graciously invited me to
attend, I will make as full a report as propriety and a nondisclosure
form permits. The second day of the meeting is all about Consortium
business and is restricted.

Kudos to the students who made it ALL possible, and to optical engi-
neer Joel Kollin for demonstrating that the virtual retinal scanner
(albeit in a crude, workbench form) does indeed work.
