From: benedict@chaos.utexas.edu (Thomas Benedict) Subject: TECH: Controlling VR devices over serial port on SGI platform Date: 19 Jun 93 00:38:27 GMT Organization: Center for Nonlinear Dynamics, University of Texas at Austin I'd originally posted to alt.3d about controlling some LCD shutter glasses through the serial port on an SGI Personal Iris, and people suggested that I post here. Does anyone know how to control the DTR and RTS lines on the Personal Iris serial port? Specifically I'm building a controller for some low-cost LCD shutter glasses for a Silicon Graphics machine, and need to be able to talk to it over a port. The serial seemed like the most likely, but I'd need tighter control over it than 9600bps would provide. Besides, I'd rather not be forced into wiring up the circuitry to deal with serial port I/O right now.
