From: lindahl@csr.arl.utexas.edu (Charlie Stewart Lindahl) Subject: TECH: MindStick: what & WHERE? Date: Thu, 11 Jun 1992 23:18:49 GMT Organization: Computer Science Engineering Univ. of Texas at Arlington All: I was speaking yesterday with another VR enthusiast (alas, not yet practitioner!) of VR and he mentioned an article he'd seen a few years back in England called the "MindStick". He said that it consisted of some electrodes that attached to the head and a box that could differentiate different Alpha wave brain patterns. He also said that this rig could/did replace a Joystick (hence the name "Mindstick") on video games. Apparently, it was/is possible to train to consistently produce several distinct alpha patterns (with training). Anyone ever heard of this? Any pointers? I'd be glad to summarize to the net ... .
