To meet the emerging global challenge in computing, it is becoming imperative
that companies and universities work closely. The Computer Sciences
Industrial Forum (CSIF '92) is a program which provides a forum for
representatives of industry and academia to discuss current advances in
computer technology.  The Forum includes:

	* A KEYNOTE ADDRESS by Dr. Forest Baskett, Senior Vice President of
	Research and Development, Silicon Graphics Computer Systems;

	* TECHNICAL TALKS by faculty and graduate students about their
	research;

	* INFORMAL ROUNDTABLES on topics of mutual concern to industry and
	academia;

	* A RECEPTION that will allow industry representatives to meet
	informally with graduate students, faculty, and alumni;

	* DEMONSTRATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS, presented by UT Austin faculty,
	that will provide more detailed information about research currently
	in progress. Each session will be small to allow ample time for
	interaction.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
  Dr. Forest Baskett is one of the most distinguished alumni of the
Department of Computer Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Baskett, who earned a PhD from UT-Austin in 1970, is the first
to receive this prestigious honor, presented on the occasion of the
25th Anniversary of the department.
  Dr. Baskett's career spans both the academic and corporate worlds.
Currently, he is Senior Vice President of Research and Development
at Silicon Graphics Computer Systems where he is a contributor to
graphics structures and earlier served as a designer of multiprocessor
structures. Prior to joining Silicon Graphics, Dr. Baskett was
director of Digital Equipment Corporation's Western Research Lab where
he spent four years designing and building research prototypes of
reduced instruction set computer (RISC) systems.
  Dr. Baskett's first employment was as an assistant professor of
Computer Sciences at UT-Austin. Subsequently, he served for 11 years
as professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Stanford
University where he was leader of the SUN workstation team at Stanford.
He holds a BA in Mathematics from Rice University and is the author
and co-author of numerous articles on performance evaluation, computer
architecture and graphics workstation architecture.
