Subject: CAD-specific interaction devices

I am doing research on improving the usability of the devices
interfacing the practitioner (product designer) with a CAD
workspace. I am especially looking at:

-How to navigate in 3D-space on a 2-D screen
(that is how to determine viewpoint and center of focus)
-How to navigate within object hierarchies (e.g. vertices, edges,
	 surfaces etc)
-How to navigate within hierarchies of coordinate sysytems (e.g
world coordinate systems vs user defined local coordinate systems)

My question: Is there any research done out there, that touches
one of those areas? Anything helps and is greatly appreciated. (I need it
for my thesis!)
