Well, this may be a rather silly recommendation, but:

You may or not may not be familiar with the Shadowrun milieu/role-playing game,
based on a combination of cyberpunk and traditional fantasy. In one of the 
supplements for the game system, _Virtual Realities_, I read a short story 
about a child 'raised' in the Matrix. I thought the story was, at the very 
least, interesting.

Disclaimer: Ever heard of taking something with a grain of salt? Well, this 
could be the time for the proverbial SHAKER. 

Ah--the book's probably available at any store that sells lots of gaming 
paraphernalia. 

And my apologies if this arrives in some totally bizarre format.
