The conference is being held in Monterey, California from May 3 to May 7. VR-related activities include: Tutorials: "Virtual Reality and Highly Interactive Three Dimensional User Interfaces" by Mark Green and Chris Shaw (U. of Alberta) and Randy Pausch (U. of Virginia) "New Interaction Media" by Robert Jacob (Naval Research Lab), Barry Arons and Walter Bender (MIT Media Lab), and Scott Fisher (Telepresence Research). Papers: "The Decoupled Simulation Model for Virtual Reality Systems" by Chris Shaw et al. (U. of Alberta) "Interactive Simulation in a Multi-Person Virtual World" by Christopher Codella et al. (IBM Watson) "The Perceptual Structure of Multidimensional Input Device Selection" by Robert Jacob (Naval Research Lab) "Participatory Design of a Portable Torque-Feedback Device" by Michael Good (Digital) There are many other papers, tutorials, panels, and demonstrations which look like they will be relevant as well. The ones listed above are simply the ones with the most obvious relationships. Plus there are all the activities not included in the preliminary program: the interactive experience, the interactive performance, short talks, and posters. The conference is sponsored by ACM.
