The latest release of REND386 is now available. For those who aren't
familiar with it, REND386 is a library of routines for doing fast,
polygon-based graphics on 386 and 486 systems with VGA cards.

The libraries are written by Dave Stampe and Bernie Roehl, and are
distributed free of charge for non-commercial use only. Commercial
users (including shareware authors) are required to contact Bernie and
Dave to obtain permission for the use of the routines in their
products.

At the moment, the release 4 libraries are not available (Bernie is
about to go on holidays and Dave is about to start writing exams) but
they should be available by the end of August. The release 4 demo is
available right now; it can be found on sunee.uwaterloo.ca in the
pub/rend386 directory in a file called "demo4.zip".

If you don't have access to ftp, you can use the ftpmail service; just
send a mail message with the word help in the body (not the subject
line!) to ftpmail@decwrl.dec.com, and you'll receive mail back telling
you how to use the service. (If you have problems using ftpmail,
mention them in an appropriate newsgroup -- not here!)

Remember to transfer .zip files in binary mode, both when ftp'ing and
when downloading to your local 386 system. This is by far the most
common mistake people run into when getting the package.

As before, neither Dave nor I have time to service requests for floppy
disks in the mail, or uuencoded files sent via email, or what have
you. We'd much rather be working on the software.

There's a mailing list of interested rend386 users; read the read.me
file in demo4.zip for information about joining the list.
