Well I am in the process of making the RS232 Interface for my sun 3/50. The nice thing about the Sun's are that they are standard unix. (bsd 4.3) I have noticed that some one else asked about the sunSGI package. I have not done much work with this package, but because you don't have to run under a windoing system, The speed of the application should be fast. You could also network two systems together one doing the screen updates and the other doing the number crunching. I picked up my sun 3/50 for $500 1 year ago. I think you can find them cheeper. I would like color but the 3/50 does not support it. Spark... Hay I am a student you know....
