Subject: TECH: GigaByte Memory? Date: Mon, 20 Apr 92 22:09:34 PDT I am aware of several new developments in solid state memories and would be interested in a high end graphics work station manufacturer's opinion and input: More specifically: If a large amount of memory was available in a small volume (less than 100 cubic inches) and this memory was accessible at between 20 and 80 MB per second (depending on bus width) would this memory subsystem provide your systems with added value? i.e. real time ability to display graphics, graphics editing, etc. Based on your experience to date, at 80,000 dollars for 1 GByte of memory, is the memory system described above likely to be cost effective in your graphics workstations? In graphics applications, are display densities beyond 1280 x 1024 envisioned for your system? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks again, Sentinel
