While at the Meckler VR 92 conference, I was waved over to a small
coffee-room table by the intriguing Dr. T.K.S. Murphy, an Anglo-Indian
gentleman who is associate director of external programs for the
Wessex Institute of Technology. Haven't heard of it? Neither had I,
but Wessex is hosting one of the more interesting conferences in
1993 -- interesting because two Japanese associations are
cosponsoring the event and because of its ecumencial character,
despite the domain-specific title. In fact, one wishes for a few
architects among the participants, given the title. But so it goes....

Call for Papers

VIDEA 93

First International Conference and Exhibition on
Visualisation and Intelligent Design in Engineering
and Architecture

Sponsored and Organized by
Wessex Institute of Technology
Computational Mechanics Institute

27-29 April 1993
Southampton, United Kingdom

Co-Sponsored by
Information Processing Society of Japan
Flow Visualisation Society of Japan

DEADLINE DATE FOR ABSTRACTS: 26 June 1992

Objectives
----------

The objective of this conference is to discuss advances in
visualisation and intelligent design and their applications in
engineering and architecture. The meeting aims to bring together
researchers in computational mathematics and in industrial hardware
and software, as well as scientists, engineers, and architects
developing practical applications in their various fields. Academics
are encouraged to participate and present results of their work on the
latest developments in computer-aided teaching in these fields.

Who Will Attend
---------------

The conference will attract mathematicians, scientists, engineers,
architects and others involved in construction and manufacturing
industries, as well as computer hardware and software developers in
industry, research establishments, government departments and
academia, actively involved in developing and using the latest
computer-aided visualisation techniques for intelligent design of
systems.

Call for Papers
--------------

Three copies of each abstract of no more than 300 words, clearly
stating the purpose, results and conclusion of the work to be
described in the final paper and indicating the most appropriate
category designation from the list of topics, should be submitted to
the Secretariat before 26 JUNE 1992 for review by the Papers
Committee. If the paper is accepted, the camera-ready manuscript of
the final full-length paper should be received by 18 DECEMBER 1992.

Video Presentation
------------------

If you have a video illustrating some of your work we would very
much like to receive a copy (preferably in PAL, VHS format). If there
is a sufficient response, we may consider preparing a master video of
contributions for the conference delegates.
