It's already happening.  The simulation of how different kinds of fabric drape
turns out to have been one of the major challenges in graphics.  I use the past
tense because there is now a system which does it and is running at the Fashion
Institute of Technology in New York.  My guess is that modeling hair is
currently work in progress.
